CHASE THE ANGLE

FLORIDA -20
The Florida Gators can play any style for Coach Billy Donovan, though they don't mind playing a slower pace as they've been hit hard by injuries and depth issues much of the season. It isn't very typical to see a No. 3 seed favored by over 20 points, but Florida isn't the typical team. Billy Donovan sure has a post-season pedigree at 31-13-3 ATS in his last 47 and this season he has had is Gators running away from a lot of good opponents. Florida, despite playing in a BCS Conference, has 15 wins on the season by 20 points or more. Northwestern State likes to get up and down the court, but plays little defense, while the Gators can score quickly from a lot of places and are capable of big huge runs. I expect a couple of them in this game.This is a complete mismatch with a coach that isn't afraid to win big. Take Florida.

DALLAS -4

Dallas has plenty of motivation, trying to catch the Lakers for the last playoff spot. This offense is 7th in the NBA and the Mavericks are on a sizzling 24-9 ATS. This is a long road trip for Boston, a team that hasn't matched up well with the Mavs. They took Boston to OT in the first meeting and Mavericks F Dirk Nowitzki didn't play. The Celtics are 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 vs. the NBA Southwest and 5-12 ATS in their last 17 games following a loss. The Mavericks are 16-7 ATS in their last 23 games playing on one days rest and the Celtics are 0-4 ATS in the last 4 meetings.

UCLA +4

Not sold on Minny here at all and UCLA while an enigma wrapped in a riddle should be able to outscore the gophers and win outright.  Minny lost to Illinois, Nebraska and Purdue to close out the season and yet still carry a number here?  The Big 10 is good, but Minny is not an elite team by any stretch but getting favorable treatment on this line because of their conference.  You saw what Oregon did to  Okie St yesterday.  PAC 12 better than you may think.

Detroit vs. Miami UNDER

This game fits a nice totals system that has won 9 of the last 10 times and plays to the under for home favorites with 1 day of rest like Miami that are favored by 10 or more with a total of 190 or higher if they were road favorites of 10 or more. The Pistons are well rested here and have 3 days off. They have stayed under in 4 of 5 after 3+ games that went over the total and 4 of 5 as a road dog of 12.5 or more. In the series here in Miami 3 of the last 4 have stayed under. Look for this one to go under the total as well.

IOWA ST +1
If you want to beat the Cyclones, you better find a way to get them to turn it over. With Korie Lucious handling the rock, the Cyclones average only 13 turnovers per game. That’s an outstanding figure considering the up-tempo pace they play. 6 of Iowa State’s 11 losses came in games where it had 14 turnovers or more. However, I don’t see Notre Dame getting the Cyclones to cough it up much. In fact, the Irish only average 10 takeaways per game. That won’t get the job done here. Notre Dame is terrific on its home floor but has struggled outside South Bend. That’s one of the reasons it is 0-5 ATS in its last 5 NCAA tournament games. The Irish have dropped 5 of their last 8 away from home. Iowa State also benefits from its “Hilton Magic” but it also showed me something on the road where it played just about everyone tough and took Kansas to OT. Since Fred Hoiberg returned to coach his alma mater, the Cyclones are 13-5 ATS in games when the line is +3 to -3. They are also 22-9 ATS when matched up against a good team (Win Pct. 60% to 80%). Lastly, the Irish are a soft 10-19 ATS as a neutral court favorite of 6 points or less or pickem under Mike Brey.

KANSAS ST -5

Unlike last year, Colorado stumbled in the Pac-12 Tournament, and enters the NCAAs with little fanfare, or expectations.

I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.Keep in mind, this is largely the same squad that pulled an opening round upset of UNLV last March before bowing out against a superior Baylor squad two days later. I believe the Buffaloes are good for at least one victory again here in 2013. Colorado has shown the ability to rise to the occasion away from home this season, notching tough victories over Baylor (neutral site game), Oregon, and Stanford, not to mention what should have been a win in Arizona back on January 3rd.

Illinois essentially played its way into this tournament in the first month of the season. Over the course of a perfect 12-0 start the Illini posted big wins over Butler and Gonzaga. Since then, it's been a struggle. Save for a five-game winning streak in February, the Illini have had a tough time stacking up wins. This is by no means a favorable opening round draw. I expect to see Colorado force this one into a halfcourt battle, ultimately disarming the Illini. Both teams struggled offensively down the stretch, but I have more faith in the Buffs' to rebound in this setting.

For Saturday. NCAAB tourney trends. #1 seeds in round of 32 are 33-13-2 ATS OVER THE TOTAL. That would be Louisville and Gonzaga Saturday. #12 seeds that won and play in round of 32 are 14-6 ATS (sides) since 2001. For Saturday that is Oregon and CAL.

When the Clippers host the Nets in this bi-coastal confrontation at the Staples Center Saturday evening, Los Angeles will take the floor looking to avenge a 10-point defeat suffered at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn earlier this season. That's good news for Clippers backers as they are 8-3 ATS in games off a win with revenge this season. With the Nets in off a same season revenge win over Dallas, and just 4-11 ATS in game after meeting the Mavericks, look for the host team in this series to improve to 22-5 ATS here tonight.

These trends went 4-0 Saturday! Today's plays are Miss -3, Indiana OVER 147 and Kansas OVER 143. I found so many plays on Saint Louis yesterday, but went with Oregon as the trend said and it was an easy winner. Cal only covered by one point as I bet +7.

New trend for Sunday. The three 15-seeds in the last 12 years to advance to the round of 32 including the two last season all got thoroughly whipped, going 0-3 ATS while losing by an average of -21.7 points.

Today's play (against Florida Gulf Coast) is San Diego St -7

With all the media attention, celebrating, etc after the upset of Georgetown, FGC should get their butt whipped today as the trend suggests.

ATL/MILW OVER 202

The OVER has been hitting often when these clubs hook up. Atlanta has been a fickle club with the total this season. They have gone UNDER their last two games, but before that they had three overs. The Bucks have also been a club bouncing up and down against the total. The Bucks can score though, eclipsing the 100 points mark in nine of their last 13 games. But the magic really happens when these two get together with the OVER coming in six of the last seven. And, the last four meetings in Milwaukee have all gone OVER. Play the OVER here on Sunday.

I've been riding the KC Royals and forgot to post that winner yesterday. I will try them again for Sunday. Best record in spring.
