wtf is Symonds' even doing in this test ? He was selected despite carrying an injury that supposedly curtailed his (cough) "allrounder" status.

Therefore unless the selectors consider him one of the top six batsmen in Australia, then, WHY ?

I still question why he was afforded such an easy passage back into the test team in the first place.

Symonds is a terrific bloke to have coming in when the runs are flowing, but he doesn't have the technique or the temperament to cope with situations like he faced today, on a consistent basis. 

Until the Australian selectors desist with their allrounder obsession, Shane Watson is the best player to have in this role.
