What can I say, we sit here everyday and have a few bets and try and make a nice life for ourself and this type of event should make your heart move....and if it doesn't then sorry but your not human.
I can't believe what we have seen over the past week and I hope in not only my life time but in our children's life time that we won't see this again.
I have mentioned in many other threads over the time that Australia is one of the best places in the world to live and I stick by that, so to see just a tradegy occur only makes me want to cry for anyone involved in this shocking incident.
God help those survivors who have made it through this and we wish them all the best for a future life that no one can ever imagine how they will rebuild. I personally lost my mother when I was only 7 years old, but no matter which way I look at it 'life is ok', and I should cherrish the days I have with the rest of my family and friends.
Remember the theory 'seven degrees of separation', as someone you know will somehow be affected, so thank your lucky stars and give where ever you can to again help this country get back on it's feet quicky for our neighbours.

There's nothing, no words strong enough to sum up just how horrible an event has taken place down in victoria this week.
It's not just the numbers of people who've perished, but the way in which they did. And It's gut wrenching to hear the reports of entire families dying in their houses or in their cars, or of parents losing their kids.
Personally, I've never felt more guilty to have my family intact and a roof over my head. You can't help it though when you see what some of these poor folks have been reduced to.
It's just not fair.
But the one heart warming side of all this is the resilience that people have shown. People who've lost everything, some of them are still getting out there and fighting fires and doing what they can to help others.
Who will ever forget the sight of the fire fighters who stopped to help THAT koala !
The millions of dollars / the offering of clothes, toys anything and everything from around the country just sums up what the great majority of Australians are all about.
As for that OTHER very small element, the type who police are trying to track down in relation to the cause of these bush fires, well, heaven help them once they're caught. Heaven fcuking help them.
ahh .......... where do you begin with this ?

Agree with your sentiments completely. Appreciate that money doesn't solve all, but in addition to what I have donated thus far, I undertake to donate all of my winnings from wagers placed tomorrow toward the Red Cross.

I read yesterday that the Australian government estimates that over ONE MILLION animals have perished in the wildfires.
A tragedy of epic scale.
I just hope that the fires weren't indeed purposely started. If so, it seems poetic where that person, or people, will find themselves after they leave this earth.
Terrible for sure.

I have never in my life been so moved by an event in this country.
Rather than place this in the too hard basket, I have forced myself to stop, close my eyes and try to imagine what these people seen, heard and thought in their final minutes. I fight back tears. If doing that doesn't make you sick with guilt at just how fortunate you are, then you have something missing.
I feel guilty that I'm not personally in Victoria trying to help. I truly do. My thoughts and prayers with everyone involved, so many there are.
And as JT eluded to - if any of these fires are indeed proven to have been deliberately lit, and the perpetrators caught - god fucking help them.
Boys

It's fucking horrible. I feel guilty too like the rest of you. It makes you sit back and think. No matter what, these guys are going through tougher times than us. I would like to be there helping. I know the area very well.
