Carlton's midfield looks impressive on paper with Judd and Stevens, meaning Murphy, Simpson, Carazzo and others will get weaker opponents.  However, Judd is underdone and been trying to manage expectations down. Not sure where stevens is at but after missing a season cant expect him to be too match fit.

 

I like the look of RIchmond's forward line:

HF: Kayne Pettifer, Matthew Richardson, Jordan McMahon
F: Brett Deledio, Jay Schulz, Nathan Brown

 

Not to sure the Carlton backline will do very well against them:

B: Michael Jamison, Ryan Houlihan, Bret Thornton
HB: Shaun Grigg, Jarrad Waite, Heath Scotland

 

Supposedely Richmond are pretty ready to go and have a history of starting the season well before falling in the big hole.

Good luck with your pick mate. Tigers have a lot to prove after being thrashed heavily in games last year. Ratten has been focusing on the Blues defence so I think it will be an interesting test.

 

Your right about Blues midfield. On paper and by potential looks good.

The tigers remained very competitive for the majority of the season. Their biggest losing margin (excluding Geelong) was 32 points up to round 15, the following 4 weeks, sure the wheels fell off and they got thrashed. But on a whole they were always within a couple of goals.

fair point tozer, although not sure i would say 'very competitive', maybe 'usually kept it fairly close without looking the part'.
