Let's start a little competition to see if we can guess the top 3 in the Brownlow for this year, so please quote your 1,2,3. If a suspended play finishes in the top 3, then they will be simply taken out and replaced by the player below and so forth...I'm sure you get my picture.

Also if you can please state a few reasons for your selection.

Below is a link to the final siren website player ranking for the year to help you out:

    Still looking it over but some books have who leads at halfway. I'm confident it will be;

Did Ablett such a better season than Bartel that he can win even after missing a few games?

I agree Rod, and if you have a look at my link above you will notice that Bartel is at the top of the list.  Some players attract votes and some don't, and I think Ablett fits this bill as he was fav last year, he also missed 3-4 games this season.

There have been many champions of the past who also don't catch the eye of the ump's in Carey and Ablett snr, and also midfielders are the winners. We have to go way back to 93 when Wanganeen (back pocket) won the medal and if my memory serves me correct, Greg Williams (midfielder) should have won it...

Below is a link to the past winners and the number of votes they scored.  Interesting to note that the past 8 winners have come from sides that have finished in the top 4

I'm not saying he'll win it outright but I certainly believe there is very little chance that he isn't winning it after round 11

Ok I've looked into this further and of course this is still just a matter of opinion...

Ablett had 7 games this year, where he dominated games more than anybody else probably since Plugger, head and shoulders above anybody else, guaranteeing him 7 BOG, giving him 21 votes (so far).

Bartell had 6 dominating games that should see him get 18 votes but was fairly quiet from rounds 6-16.

Round 2 was the only game they both dominated the game together, finishing almost equal, maybe JB slightly ahead by a whisker.

Ablett had another 5 games where he could poll votes.
    JB had between 7-9.

Giving a grand total of 29 votes each, a tie.

No I made that total up but it will be close.

I have looked at the year in similar fashion tozer and the one thing that stand's out to me again is the fact that Bartel had a slightly better year then last where be polled 29 votes (I think...I'll check my link above in a sec), plus again Ablett might just be one of those players that struggle to get votes from umps, and he missed 4 games...

Here's a few possibilities that appear certainties

    Cox (Most WC votes) $1.25
Ablett (leader after round 11) $1.65
    Harvey Top 5 $1.35
    Harvey (most NM votes) $1.03

    Combined odds $2.86

Won't be around come Monday, thus here is my 1,2,3:

    1. Harvey
    2. Bartel
    3. Black

I think that Harvey had a better year than last, and is a proven vote getter.  Bartel is the same, however the reason why he wasn't my top pick is the fact that too many players will take votes off him.
And Black simply could have won it last year, but just missed out, the only problem will be The Lion last few games, but again he is a vote getter.

No Ablett on the basis that he missed 4 games, and simply didn't poll too many votes last year when favourite.

Cheers and GL to all who will be having a bet.

Where is the fun in betting on the Brownlow if you are relying on a mock draft?
