IMHO-> better deal for the Sens as their goaltending woes are a serious concern, elliot has done what he's needed to make a pitch as a backup...leclaire will certainly void that concern next year!
 
 
a speedy vermette is a major plus for a jackets team who thrives on speed!

The problem with the deal for Ottawa is that theyre dealing for a goaltender that has not been able to stay healthy.  The move helps both sides, but only if LeClaire can give the Sens 45-50 starts next year.

Correction:  Nylander has 2 years left.

Also, the Caps may not make any moves today and have denied having any contact with the Islanders regarding Guerin.

they cut alot of salary in LeClaire and they dont need him anymore....they have a franchise goaltender already
 
 
Vermette should be able to help them out on the PP and he can also play the PK as well
 
 
The Jackets need another winger so this deal makes sense for both teams.....
 
 
Also good luck Ottawa with LeClaire.....I have watched almost every game he has played in the NHL....when he is on he is very very good....to bad he will only be in goal for you guys around 30 - 40 games a year

They obviously need to make a move to bolster the D, especially with Poti re-injuring his groin.  But they also don't wanna trade away any of the young talent they've built like Flash, Fehr, Laich, etc.  Don't wanna mortgage the future, but at the same time they need to do something to compete in the playoffs this year.  They are still oin the running for Morris, but I think he'll end up in Philly.  Lupul may be headed to Phoenix

dont know why they would not put out a feeler for what the Islanders are looking for in return for Guerin

They say they've talked to the Isles, but not once about Guerin.  As to why they haven't inquired about him, I don't know. 

One thing is for sure, they can't add a player like Guerin without clearing room first, and that would mean being able to get someone to take Nylander.

Very slow start to the day it seems like.  I feel like we had a lot more deals and a lot more rumors by this time last year.  I guess the issue is that there's really only 6 teams that can seriously be considered sellers.

With Pronger off the market it seems the biggest name left is Boumeester.  Kind of a Catch 22 for Florida.  Do you trade him and kind of give up on what looks to be a team capable of a playoff upset, or do you keep him and risk losing him in the offseason for absolutely nothing?
