Its disgraceful, how many times this playoffs have you seen teams take 3 and 4 whacks at the puck with no whistle...now they blow it dead?

I've refed hockey and played for over 12 years and the ref was way outta position when he blew that whistle.  He has to be on the fucking net literally on top of the back of the net especially at the end of the game like that.   Also the refs got in the way alot tonite of players and shot pucks.  Really shitty refing crew tonite.  On faceoffs lots of visiting player the Wings thrown out didn't like that either.

This is one hell of a series tho i think winner of this goes all the way to the Cup and Wins.  Two Vet teams know what it takes and play two entirely different types of hockey.  If Redwings played like they did in the 3rd the entire game we wouldn't be having this discussion.

agreed. but ive gotten far more headaches from nba than nhl from shitty calls.

He lost sight because he was 10 yards away, clearly not doing his job and out of position!!!

then he has no business reffing an NHL game again.  he was in no position to make a call like that

it was a lazy play by the ref tho...he should be moving around trying to look for the puck..

That why NHL sucks. They should have replay like NFL. A human error like this could cost a team a series.

Mickey Redmond, local Detroit announcer, said in the early 3rd that a referee screw-up will decide this game.  He said, it's only a matter of time.

I can say it quite easily. You obviously skipped reading my whole post - Detroit outshot Anaheim like that because Anaheim tried to nurse home their lead to far out: they stopped playing.

lets see Detroit do that to them when they're playing properly.

Exactly.

Ref needs to blow the whistle when he loses sight of the puck when he is in position to see it.

ANYONE WOULD HAVE LOST SIGHT OF THE PUCK 10 YARDS AWAY FROM THE FUCKING NET!!!

I did read your whole post and ignored that part because it doesn't make sense.  How do you "nurse a lead" in the PLAYOFFS?  Listen to yourself.  That is ridiculous as it sounds.

it was a very quick and weird play..the ref was caught out of position...
 
what if hiller actually had the puck covered and the ref didnt know...so he tried to get a better view..and through 2-3 hacks at hillers glove detroit scores..then ducks fans would be complaining hiller had the puck and there was no whistle
 
its an unfortunate incident which happens when refs are part of the play..not like its the first time this has happened

You said it perfectly, Ice.  Same here.  I had no action on this contest, and I'm pretty pissed.

Nobody can say for sure which team would've won in OT, though I think there is a really good chance it would have been entertaining as Hell.

This really makes the NHL look like a mickey mouse operation.  They better count their  blessings this was on that Nazi Network, VS this late into the evening; and not on NBC in the middle of the day on a Saturday.

Sickening.  Truly sickening.

wow, you are an imebcile then: teams try to nurse home leads all the time, in all sports. causes them no amount of problems in trying to do so. This is sports knowledge 101 shit - and you're not aware of the fact? why are you betting if you dont know this?

The bad thing is, the fact the ref blew the whistle is meaningless, because when I watched the audio replay, the puck was clearly in the net before you could hear the whistle!  They can and they should have reviewed whether the puck was in the net before the whistle was blown, which it was.

I hear what you are saying about Anaheim turning off the jets so to speak, but it's hard to say with certainty that they could just turn it back on just like that.  Do you know how devastating that goal would have been to Anaheim and how uplifting it would have been to Detroit.  I highly doubt the Ducks could have just flipped a switch in OT after blowing a game like that in the final seconds.
