How you guys think this affects the Habs tomorrow? Sluggish start? They were completely out of it in the third vs Boston but they still did not know anything about Max's condition. All I know is the guys are very upset - to quote " livid, pissed off" with the league's decision.

I completely agree ...ou know why on top of everything I feel like he knew what he was doing...because he never looked back to see what happened..

It's like a kid in class who avoids eye contact with a teacher because he doesn't want the teacher to ask him a question..pretend like everything normal and you seem innocent.

scott gomez never saw the hit but he heard a loud bang and that's how he knew what had happened and looked at max..apparently the loud noise wasn't enough for chara, the gasp of the crowd, neither was max's feet halfway in the air or the fact that all of a sudden he was no longer is contact with max

You have to give hockey SOME credit - after the little girl died at a hockey game they put nets up to protect fans..

They are trying to make headshot rules and shit.. They are trying things.. give them SOME credit.. Not trying to be a dick but theres just a lot of bitching lately and a lot of unnecessary blame..

I'll go on record as saying that this particular hit could only generate this kind of buzz because it happened to a Canadien. This was an interference call, plain and simple, and an architectural oversight caused an injury.

Only in the delusional world of many (certainly not all) Canadien fans can this turn into the sideshow it has. You'd think they forgot Hal Gill did this to a player himself just a season or two ago, without any news, let alone criminal charges.

It's one thing to have to be subjected to their incessant whining every time one of their guys gets hit on home ice, but it's another entirely when their whining gets into papers here in the US. There's apparently no limit to their sense of entitlement.

Montreal police will conduct a criminal investigation into the on-ice hit that sent Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty to hospital with a broken vertebra and concussion.

The announcement Thursday follows a request by Quebec's top prosecutor, Louis Dionne, to open a probe after viewing video of Tuesday night's game against the Boston Bruins at the Bell Centre.

Dionne has asked police to begin gathering evidence to help prosecutors determine if charges should be laid against Zdeno Chara, the Bruins defenceman who rode Pacioretty into the boards.

Wow!! Well I just read the thread and we can all agree that hockey is a contact sport and injuries are a part of it..

However we also need to take into account that those players make a living out of it and invest years of training to one day play in the nhl and all that can go down the drain because of one play.

I dont think that Chara wanted to injure Pacioretty but you cannot be so reckless in your play. I am all for a suspension and Chara really needs to adapt his play to normal sized players. I really think the "he is so big and it seemed so dangerous because of that.."argumet cannot stand in this case..

Explain the "reckless" part. It was standard interference that every d-man runs (when the league isn't calling it, which it now isn't anymore), and a poorly constructed stanchion caught the player in the head.

Fans here are giving WAY too much credit to Chara thinking he's got the blueprints for the building memorized. He's at ice level folks, not sitting at home watching replays from overhead at slowmotion speed. He's got a guy going past him and he's rubbing him off. The stanchion is simply not a consideration, which is why you see these hits from time to time across the league. It's bad luck.

The reason this is news, the ONLY reason, is because Paccioretty got badly hurt as a result, and he's a Hab. If he had skated away or played for any less of a whining, self-righteous fanbase, this would have been a non-story.

I'm sorry if Habs fans can't hear how one-sided they sound at every borderline infraction of every game on their ice, but it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Kudos to them for being blindly loyal and supportive, but it doesn't make them any less clouded and self-righteous. If they feel they got screwed here, get in line. How do you think Bruins fans felt about Cooke, or Jones on Bergeron, or Walker on Ward. The ruling is the ruling. Live with it.

And for God's sake let your police do their job instead of fielding your whining phone calls about some athlete.
