History would suggest otherwise, but Washington should be strong enough at home to limit the Penguins to 3 goals or less, and hopefully to 2 or less for the win. Money is returned if Pittsburgh scores exactly 3 goals.


Detroit -0.5 in regulation -105 (risking 1.58 units to win 1.50 units) - St. Louis once again surrendered a 3rd period lead due to brainless coaching and strategy. Interim coach Payne is not the solution. Anytime this team gets a lead they decide to go into a defensive shell time and time again. St. Louis is only 23-14-6 after scoring first. They travel to the Joe tonight to meet the Red Wings who are coming together and look like a serious contender going forward. Detroit is riding the solid play of young Jimmy Howard in goal and their special teams have been outstanding having killed off all 24 penalties against in their last 9 games. St. Louis always gives Detroit a fight, especially this year when the Wings weren't in the kind of form they're in now. However, Detroit is riding a wave of momentum after scoring the game winner with seconds left in Vancouver and following it up with a 3:1 home win against the defending champions. St. Louis has been outshot 51:97 in their last 3 games (they are 2-1). They don't have a winner's mentality right now and Detroit can take advantage this evening.

Some entertaining 3rd periods in games I was involved with this evening. Pittsburgh scores a late goal to force overtime and has a 2:0 lead in the shootout but Ovechkin kept them alive. Pittsburgh couldn't score the game winner in the 3rd round. Semin scored to keep Washington alive and eventually the Capitals won in overtime, all for a refund.

Detroit fell behind earlier but took the lead into the 3rd. St. Louis tied it early in the 3rd but Detroit came up big in the late going.
