ptunney13 - you should be wary of relying on stats to make your decision. All stats show is that they've done well in the past. Every team is entitled to shit the bed, no-show or simply not have their game together and dig a hole too deep to excape from. DET nearly did in their last game. Shouldn't have beaten MIN but that's another story. LAK have beaten DET and there's got to be a glimmer of optimism for being traded among the guys who want to win games amongst the normal indifference exhibitted by the worst team that plays in the city where all the players want to be. Can't say who wants what in that one but LAK appears to be playing up. Also, they are the team that NO ONE CARES whether they beat them. At this point the chances of meeting LAK in the playoffs depends on whether the Kings' players have good seats.
 
Your thoughts on DAL/MIN regarding your like/dislike shouldn't ever enter the equation. Acknowledge that you may feel torn by betting on one or the other but don't kid yourself. MIN is going to put the lazy-bad blueline stars on their backs. I see 4-1 in the near future.
 
I couldn't agree more with your thoughts on CHI/CAL. CAL has to be thinking about 2 things: humiliating 0-5 loss and vengeance this weekend. While they might have a little too much emotion to start that will probably set them up for an easy win against the hapless Hawx. Damn, they're bad!!!

Agree Scoot, MIN has had 2 SO's in their last three games at home vs DAL
If TOR wasn't playing so horrible ,I'd say that game could go OT.

Guts, your house is the shit.  I'm coming here from now on.  I went 5 for 6 last night.  Would have won $88 off of $5 if I hadn't gone and tied an NBA game into my 5 teamer dreamer.  Oh well, still on the upside of my envelope.  I like you guys' picks tonight for the most part.  Here's my contribution to the table.  Good luck fellas!!

JHBuff - my "feelings" for a team don't get in the way of my wallet - as you see when I said "I can't touch this game as I dislike both teams" - I hope they win for your sake, but I can see this game being a 1-1 or 2-2 boring style...sure, 4-1...I don't see why not!
 
In terms of "LA has beaten Det"....does it count that it was January of LAST YEAR?
 
Hey, Kings "could" pull the upset....sure....but it's Detroit at home, and I'll pay the slight juice on the PL. -1.5....7 of Det's 9 wins against LA in the past 2 years have been 3 goals or more. LA's ONE win was 4-2 at home.
 
My strong leans now are Calgary, Montreal (which hurts as I am a Leaf fan) Detroit PL, Nashville and possible a couple unders. I'm trying to keep a smaller card though, so we'll see about that!

Just a few thoughts regarding tonite's games....
 
Ottawa can't lose this game.  They can't "afford" to let Mtl gain more ground on them.  Heatley's return = victory
 
Islanders have not been scoring and are taking too many penalties.  But they are playing better even though they got shutout last VS Quacks.  They've beaten Pens B4 in Pitt and think they take it tonite.  Desperation & .500 Pitt rec w/o Crosby = Isles victory.  Might want to take PL if you're not convinced
 
Ya the Rangers have veterans and are a proud bunch, but so are the Ducks and i'm laying lumber on the team I CAN TRUST!!!! Ducks ML ( they're favs now)
 
Mtl in regulation time is the way to play.  Odds are apprx -125 and yes they have to win in 60 minutes.  You lose if they tie
 
I believe the Canucks are 3-0 VS S/E division.  Doesn't mean much when you have NO DEFENCE.  Small on Atl
 
Columbus has Norriega in net.  Stay away
 
Calgary CANNOT be trusted.  Stay away
 
I actually like Mike Smith, but no play as Zubov out again
 
Dan Ellis in net is a wise move.  Mason was going to shit the bed tonite.  I've watched him play long enough
 
Det -950???  Crazy.  Forget it.
