CAR v WSH - Another very strong home ice trend exists in this match-up. It's really been very much like clockwork thus far this season. Back 'n' forth these two teams go. If there's anything that vexes me more than the unexpected outcome (like those seen last night), it's the outcomes that one can set their watch to.
Thusly, this game really bugs me. A lot. As well as the CAPS have played, and they have, they really haven't played much better than .500 hockey by my eyes. The Canes are on a losing streak, and in the middle of a road-trip while a natural national disaster (a hurricane, how ironic) hits their homeland.
Is there a letdown, now that the CAPS have secured 1st place among their division? Are the Canes minds elsewhere and apart from their task at hand? It seems very 50/50 to me. . . The CAPS are great, and they're scary, but they've got a letdown brewing, especially after the Thrashers lost what many (including myself) had picked to be an "easy win" for them.
Still, it seems like there is too much off ice distraction for the Canoes to pull together and focus there energies enough, to prevent themselves from being "capped" tonight by Washington. C'est la vie. CAPS (ML)

NOTE: Hell no, I"m not touching the total in this one either. I think both goal-keeps put on a display tonight. Yes, I could be very wrong by this line of thinking. So be it.
BOS v BUF - Against all odds, the Sabres are putting together an impressive run here in the second half of the season. Tonight I think they get caught up however. Boston is coming into town a better rested team, and a team that is hungry to avenge their recent home loss (against BUF) in this "almost home" 'n' home.
I have a feeling that Auld could get the "go" for this game. I'm probably wrong, but then again, I've not any idea whom will be in goal for any team, as I write this. Along w/ my own speculation, I have head whispers that Glen Murray will be rejoining his team soon. It's probably too much to hope for his return tonight, but I will be looking forward to the day when he is back.
Either way this game is a big one. Friday night, with playoff implications, as both teams fight for that 8th spotted ticket to the show. My temptation is to play the hot hand and take the Sabs, but I think the Bees have shown a lot of grit out on the road in recent weeks. In spite of their recent struggles . . . I BEE-lieve in bean-eaters. - It'd be great to see Auld come out and sew up that Bruins net . . . this one is gonna be "a goodie". BOS (ML)
NOTE: This is my most "gut play" of the evening. If Auld gets the nod, then you can bet that I've "got the nuts" on this pick.
