Alright...now a little trivia for game 7...

The last Stanley Cup final series where the home team won all 7 games was not too long ago...2003 Anaheim/New Jersey.

The Pens just became only the 10th out of 24 teams to win game 6 at home when trailing in the final series 3-2. Only 2 of THOSE 10 have won the Cup...1950 Red Wings  and 1971 Habs.

The Wings have outscored the Pens 11-2 in 3 home games this series.

Babcock, Bylsma and Sykora were all on the Ducks side in that one

Petr Sykora has lost 2 game 7s  2001, 2003 and he lost last years finals..if he loses Friday...goddamn thats gotta suck

and the 1 cup he did win he was in the hospital when the Devils won it because of the elbow/forearm from Derian Hatcher

speaking of shitty officiating..that Game 7 in 2001 was the "hey lets get Ray Bourque  a cup" from kerry fraser

Sykora played a good game tonight. I still want Detroit to win but I dont know. These game 7s

No real significance, but I'm quite bored tonight...

In 6 games in this series, Detroit players with a last name starting with 'H' have combined for a total of 1 goal...Helm scored it. Hossa, Holmstrom, and Hudler have all gone scoreless.

Pittsburgh players with a last name starting with 'G" have also combined for a total of 1 goal...Gonchar scored it. Guerin and Gill have gone scoreless.

Can anyone tell that the wife is out and the kid's asleep?

Each of the last six Game 7s in the Stanley Cup final have been won by the home team. The last road team to win a Game 7 in the Cup finals was the 1971 Montreal Canadiens in a 3-2 win over the Blackhawks.

Gun to my head, I'd take the Wings to win based on how the series has gone and based on gut feeling. That said, anything can happen in game 7, and I'm secretly cheering a tad more for the Pens.

Guess it's not much of a secret anymore.

Heard an interesting fact tonight...
 
...only Brian Rafalski on the Wings has every played a game 7 of the SC finals.  ...very surprsing that no other player on Det has played a game 7 of the SC finals.
 
...from a little research, I know Sykora on Pitt was on that Devils team that Rafalski was on, not sure if there were anyone else.
 
Makes you think a little about the pressure the Wings will have on Friday. Considering they are on even ground when it comes to experience in game 7's of the SC. Maybe not such an easy pick.

gonna be a daunting task at the JOE, from last line change to putting the stick down last on the draws etc...etc..

True, but game 7 of the SC finals with no experience is a different mindset tham game 7 of the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Yeah 1996-97 and 1997-98 were both sweeps. Then they beat the Canes 4 - 1 in 2001-02 and last year 4 - 2 vs Pens.

Now this year Game 7

As fan of hockey you want to see a game 7 for sure. BUT as a fan of these two teams you hope your team can finish it off earlier but not this time around.

  Wayne back in the day screwed my Wings 2 years in row in the Conference Finals.

Sykora was with Rafalski in 2001 when they lost to Colorado in the game 7...He was on the Ducks in 2003 when they lost to the Devils and Rafalski

Craig Adams on the Pens won a Game 7 in the finals with the Canes
Bylsma was on the Ducks in 2003 when they lost, coached by Babcock obviously

Fedotenko had 2 goals in his game 7 to win the cup with TB vs the Flames in 2004 (a very under rated great series)
