Does Helly Trade make Devils legit Contender?

Kinda feels like it should, but I wouldn't wager my hard earned money on it.  Team just has too many softies on it.  Mercer and Command don't change that profile, but not a bad haul for the Dev's.

Agree with all of the above. Devils are not on the same level of physicality as the Canes, Panthers, Vegas, Avs when it comes to blue liners.  Florida is going to wish they dealt for him. Markstrom cannot stay healthy.

 Really surprised they (FLA) did not sell the Farm to get him.  I think they win 2+ more Cups with him over next 3-4 years.  Glad he went to Jersey.

Too many strong teams in the East for NJ to step over. 

Winnipeg is annoying with its dump and chase going back to the P- Mo years. IDK. Mid tier team. The NHL wants to expand to 34 teams. It's going to dilute talent for owners that don't care about the final "product". Pricing out ordinary fans and terrible tv accessibility. 

I don't see NJ being a top contender.
