I take it back. 9'ers have far outplayed expectations and this guy still won't make a deal. Time for the rookie salary cap.
Exactly! I know its all about money but unless these rookies show me something, as an owner, I would like to have a rookie salary cap. If im not mistaken, the NFL wont have a salary cap next year which means guys like Jerry Jones will pick up guys like Crabtree, yessir, Romo will have mega weapons next season!
I wish Crabtree signed with the 49ers cause I have them to win there division & thought he would have been a great addition to there receiving arsenal, but now I dont really care if they ever sign him, the 49ers are doing reat without him!

Fuck Crabtree, ignorant scumbag. This kid is a rookie , what he did in college is irreleveant, you were the 10th pick you deserve 10th pick money. You havent done jack shit in the NFL yet, its a whole new ball game than in that spread offense wide open college game. I hope this KID FAILS , and Fails big time.

The funny part is the 49ers own the panther's first round pick next year, which is looking like a top 10 pick. They'd be smart to draft him again to A. Teach him a lesson and B. Avoid signing any first rounder in what will be the last year before a restructured rookie pay scale

He has until Oct 17 to sign. If he does sign I hope he has to do a suicide one on one tackleing drill with Caoch Singltary. Coach still looks like he can knock the snot out of someone.

What's really stupid about this is that u work your ass off to get your day in the sun( well pay day)... then it comes & you say no ? Give me a break ! If you're that good, you'll get paid. Might not be RIGHT NOW, but you will. Sad thing is that SF could really use him since they turning things around...

The money he is losing this year he will never get back......this is just plain dumb on Crabtree's part. Too bad when you see people make such terrible decisions. I hope he doesn't hurt himself or get sick or something else that would cause him to lose his ability to get his big payday. He can ask that baseball player who turned down a couple of opportunities to sign for millions.......he's making $10/hour at Costco now.

Crabtree Saga Nearing End? Adam Schefter on the renewed talks between the 49ers and Michael Crabtree
DALLAS -- First-round draft pick Michael Crabtree left for San Francisco from Tampa, Fla., on Monday to renew contract talks with the 49ers, according to sources familiar with the negotiations.
Crabtree was unavailable for comment. The Dallas native and former Texas Tech receiver has been training in Tampa the past few weeks.
Eugene Parker, Crabtree's agent, is scheduled to arrive in San Francisco on Tuesday. Parker declined comment when reached.
Niners coach Mike Singletary said Monday that he would still like to have Crabtree play for the team this season.
"Any guy that can play and help us win, I would never say, 'No, we don't need him,'" Singletary said. "We need all the good football players we can get."
Crabtree, the 10th overall selection in April's draft, is the only unsigned first-round pick. He has missed the first four weeks of the regular season.
The 22-year-old Crabtree is seeking money comparable to higher picks and has turned down the 49ers' offer for approximately five years and $20 million, with a reported $16 million guaranteed.
The 49ers have until Nov. 17 to sign Crabtree in order for him to play this season. If Crabtree is not signed and he is not traded, he would go back into the April draft.
The 49ers (3-1) are in first place in the NFC West without Crabtree, but their offense ranks 28th in the NFL. San Francisco's passing game also ranks 28th, and none of the team's wide receivers rank among the league's top 50 in receptions.
Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
Mike Singletary earns my respect here. He is a football player coach that is speaking up his mind and he knows Crabtree would make his offense elevate with his defense.
The first and greatest victory is to conquer self

The better the 9'ers do the faster he'll sign. I think he doesn't want to play for a losing team. just my opinion.
It was quite the opposite. He was hoping that they played poorly and would then figure they need him so they could win which would force them to pay him the money he wanted.
Bad call by him.
The Niners have come out of the gate at 3-1 (some would argue they should be 4-0) and that leverage is lost. Now today he is having his agent renew talks and he himself is headed to San Francisco.
He stands to lose more then the Niners if he sits the year. What team is going to take him after having not played in almost 2 years in the top 10 next season or first round for that matter and risk him holding out for top dollar?
The deal from the Niners was more then fair for where he was drafted. It doesn't matter if he is better then Bey or deserves more then Bey. It was his choice to turn it down. He rolled the dice and so far he has lost.

Crabtree agreed to a six-year deal with San Francisco early Wednesday
morning, according to various reports, after missing all of training
camp and the first four games of the season. The deal includes a sixth
year that voids if Crabtree has two great seasons in his first four
years. The 49ers face Atlanta on Sunday; it’s unclear if Crabtree will
play.

i'll be interested to see who caved here. i'm guessing crabtree. he thought the jets were interested and they get braylon instead. that probably took some leverage away from crabtree.

Its outrageous that these rookies get paid so much, without proving anything. As a gambler, I love it though. Alot of these shitty teams that keep getting High Draft picks, and getting burned on busts, is causing a MASSIVE skill gap between the good and bad teams. Teams like Detroit has wasted so much cap space on picks that havent amounted to anything, and it keeps them at the bottom. But it really has to stop. The NFL is becoming less and less competitive, and its hurting the league.
