Will the Steelers go to the playoffs?

I'm very curious to see if the Steelers will go back to the playoffs this year.  Even though Big Ben is out 4-6 games, I like our backups.  Dennis Dixon looked very good in his NFL debut against the Ravens, despite throwing an INT in OT.  Charlie Batch has always performed well when Big Ben is out.  Bryon Leftwhich, expected to start with Ben out, would be a starter for many teams.  Maybe it's just a SuperBowl slump like in 04'. Who knows?

And please name me the "many teams" Leftwich would start for?

Obviously you don't watch the Steelers, Leftwich is very talented.  I admit that I overdid it on the "many teams," but he could start for 2 or 3.  Vikings, Raiders, and Jaguars.  I think they have a good chance.  I like our players. 

Vikings of course if Favre doesn't come back.

Pitt's offensive line is pitiful and then you lost Colon (he holds 2 guys on every play). Ben is an improvisational qb (a big quality of his). I don't see Leftwich in that mode. Looks like a down year to me, thanks to your childish qb that can't just get a regular date.

Only if they buy tickets, IMO.  Leftwich is not that good and Big Ben loses a couple of games a year just by dumb mistakes.  I like the Steelers, like to see them win but have been disappointed in their QB play.

But I do agree Ben is very childish and his head is on the chopping block with Pittsburgh.

If Leftwich was a good qb, he'd still be in Jacksonville. He's got several jerseys in his closet now, I think that's strong evidence that he's not that good....

PITT hoping to make the playoffs while in the same division as CIN and BAL? Doubt it.

AFC West - SD

AFC South- INDY

AFC East - NYJ/ NE

AFC North - CIN

That leaves the  2 WC spots for teams like BAL, HOU, MIA, TEN, and the AFC East runner up imo.

Of course, if Bill Levy's crew did every PIT game, we might come to a different conclusion.

I would take Jason Campbell, Tarvaris Jackson or David Garrard over Byron Leftwich any day of the week and 5 TIMES ON SUNDAY.

Won't be easy. But everyone is writing them off so who knows...expect the unexpected right?

i'm not so sure they can survive without Big Ben.

If they start off poorly, they only have 2 for sure wins at the end.

They may only win 6 games

Sorry but Leftwich could't even start for the TB Bucs when he was there.

Leftwich is a LOSER!   And I'm from Pittsburgh.  Tampa Bay, of all teams cut his ass.   He's not good and "winds up" before he can throw a pass.  

I don't believe Leftwich has what it takes to take the Steelers to the playoffs.  I never really count Pittsburgh out so I'm not going to.  To me they are the only team in the division out of the so called powers that didn't really do much to improve their team in the offseason.  Having Polamalu on defense should keep you in many games though.

Better look a little closer.. Granted they did not have a huge amount of holes to fill but they did just that.. At O- line they spent a first round pick on Pouncey.. Colon went down (the weak link on the line) they pick up "Hotel".. On defense they bring back Brian Mac (off year at Zona but was nicked ..stud at Pitt and college will trust the track record) to replace Gay at corner .. Gay himself admitted he suck last year and said he took off the off season after the SB win.. Special teams cost them at least two games last year .. So they fire special teams coach and draft a handful of quick LB's and these guys will play special teams while backing up the best starting LB core in the NFL..  At WR they spend a 3rd round pick and 6th round pick on two burners and pick up Randle El to find a 3rd WR.. Both rook WR's having very very good early camps.. 6th round pick Brown seems like he may be a steal.. All Pitt needs is a little health on defense with Smith & Troy back on a defense that still finished FIFTH on total defense last year with all the injurys.. Plus Harrison said he played the 2nd half of last season with one arm.. IMO Pitt addressed all its problems its now time to see if they made prudent choices.. SB hangover was last year..  Alot of talent still left on this team from the most recent SB.. They will hang to Ben gets back .. Cinny fans should be more concerned whether Palmer is still going to dance all year in the pocket when pressured.. GL.. IMO you will need it..

Don't get your hopes too high on Cincy, I just don't think they get to the playoffs this year.  T.O in my opinion just made they're chances of going to the playoffs even smaller.  What's going to happen when T.O doesn't get his way?  He'll start crying like usual.  It's just in his DNA.  Point blank he's a CANCER.  The real competition is between the Ravens and the Steelers.  Ravens had a really good offseason and Steelers hope to make their O-Line better with Pouncy.  More protection for Ben/Leftwhich/Dixon/Batch.  If the Steelers can stop losing games in the 4th quarter, like the majority of their losses last season, their chances to the playoffs increase.  If the Steelers don't win the division then they'll get in from the wildcard and vice versa.
