honestly, the colts never looked like they even cared about that game, SD looked fired up, and the announcers spoke like they knew and wanted SD to win the whole time.
 
Combine those facts with the refs and do the math.

What i found most surprising was that a veteran indy team lost their cool and committed what can only be called 2 stupid penalties in o.t. the receiver holding was obvious and rivers couldn't complete a pass to anyone but gates for most of the night. the facemask was obvious and right in front of the official. no choice but to call it.

Ya its a shame to watch such a good game than have it so highly influenced by the zebras.

I can tell you this..

The refs nearly took the game from the Cards earlier wiping way a safety in the endzone and the MUGGING on Fitz on a crucial third down play.

If the defense makes mistakes, you should call them.

The defensive holding happened like THREE times.

Dont blame the refs for some linesman pulling a face mask

the face mask was legit the holding call yes maybe but still you dont call that shit in OT especially when u havent called it all game and u call it 2 times in OT

Honestly 3 flags to add up to 35 free yards and these flags were when the chargers were passed the 50 and one was on 3rd down pure bullshit......

So it is fair for the defense to break the rules in overtime like that?

It was very obvious to me, the face mask I didnt see until replay but the crew calls a ton of penalties, thats their style..and so it goes.

And the NFL needs to do something about these OT rules pretty sad that it comes down to a COIN TOSS.......

so a ref shouldn't throw a flag at all?  so mass holding and blatant penalties should be ignored?  that makes no sense.

with that said, i didn't think that was defensive holding.  maybe i don't know the rules but wasn't that within the 5 yard chuck rule?

Al Michaels announcing tonight was so ridiculous.  It was clear he favored SD .... being there was no comments about those horrible calls by the refs

I agree.  Maybe this will change Dungys mind.  If he actually coaches next year.

Thats when i made the thread and knew colts backers were finished no matter what, watching the rest of the game was a waste of time. Its laughable how pathetic the world is

What I hear is a bunch suckers who took a ROAD favorite in the playoffs and lost.

What do you expect the refs just not to call the defensive holding and face mask?

I think if it had been Indy with the ball and the penalties werent called there would be 20 fixed threads with people whining

Don't comment unless you actually watched the game.

 The problem with the refs are they called it only on one side. There were numerous times they could have called offensive holding and hands to the face on the tackle blocking Freeney they didn't do it. They went out of their way to flag Indy.

The shame of it was we had to watch the refs decide the outcome not the players.

It was very surprising that Michaels was not even questioning the calls by the refs. Collinsworth would not let that shit slide... he was all over them for the BS calls in the Atl/ Az game.

As stated by many, many posters. I just find it rather ridiculous that refs allow themselves to decide a game.

And please. All those turnovers that SD had were legit. Sure, they should've scored in the red zone... but they didn't... and arguing that SD was just "unlucky" is not comparable. Those "unlucky" plays occured in football... not as determined by the refs.

  Usually the Colts get all the calls. I can see Bill Polian running to the NFL head office on Monday for another rule change.

Hey dude, I was watching the game. I said that the initial face mask I didnt see.

The guy was stupid for holding the face mask period. Dont blame the refs for mistakes on the defense.

i hate the pass interference/defensive holding call in football more than any other rule infraction in all of sports.

A close 2nd is how the QB have skirts on and you can't touch them.

Rules are geared far too much towards offense.

Hate to say it Colt fans/backers but your boy Dungy and Polian had a big hand in the way things are called now a days.  They are on the competition committee and they wined and cried after all their losses to New England in 03 and 04.  They won a AFC championship and super bowl on a horrible PI call on Hobbs on a 3rd and long that gave Indy the ball on the 1 and they refused to call a PI on a more deserving play on Caldwell in the end zone.

Well said Billy....I mean hell, they didnt even get to play football in OT, just snap the ball and the refs gave em 15 yards at a time, oh and not to mention free 1st downs....shit  was ridiculous

No but I have seen penalties account for all the first downs on the last drive of a game .The fact that it wasnt in OT makes no difference
