glyde - My point is they are the 2nd best team RIGHT NOW. I think they are better than all of those teams you have listed.
Power rankings are for dweebs because it's perception vs reality, they don't seperate the contenders from the frauds. Most mainstream power rankings have the Giants 2nd and the Eagles anywhere from 5th to 9th which is a laugher. They should read Giants 1, Eagles 2.
Match up Philadelphia against every team in the NFL right now on a neutral field and I guarantee that the Eagles would be favored in every game except the Giants where they would probably be a 2.5 point dog.

PHI similar to PIT will always be a contender because they have a well coached NFL defense which creates problems with stunts, blitzes and packages that cause confusion to QBs, O-lines and reaction by skill players...
NE is able to do this also...
Teams can get impact players and leaders on defense that come and go as they do...
I think that if you can get decent odds on NFC champs also you might have some good hedge material...

MAC99 I think you've been smokin some crazy cabbage. The Eagles are not the 2nd best team in the NFL. Lets say everyone on the teams are healthy. I would say it would be Tenn, NYG,WAS,DALL,then PHIL.
If you are saying the 2nd best team the way things are right now with injuries and all I would say Tenn,NYG,then maybe Phil or Wash.

i was thinking about that same question earlier today... and there is no doubt the Eagles would be favored...
the Eagles are getting healthy, and if they can maintain that over hte 2nd half of the season, they can get on a roll... this week's game will go a long way to deciding who wins the NFC East, and thus gets homefield advantage, and thus has a strong edge to get to the Super Bowl...
slightly big game...

you have to be out of your mind to say anyone is better than tenn. right now, especially philly. also high profile passing teams aren't whats winning superbowls, see colts, chargers, cowboys, and others the last few years. when indy did win it they won it by playing good defense that year and pressuring the qb, also they established the run game often. look last year at the no running game Pats, won in the reg season, slipped by every playoff game, then got exposed and lost in the SB. now when the patriots were winning superbowls they were playing good defense and running the ball. we saw what the cowboys did to them when healthy. mcnabb chokes like its his job. they've been playing games closer than they should, getting backdoor covers against SF who is absolutely horrible, and backdooring Atl. i know you're not talking about best teams ATS but the fact is teams that shouldn't be keeping it close are doing so. as to your whole "if completely health rambling" well thats why they play the game, and thats part of the game. if the cowboys were completely healthy they'd win week after week. you're forgetting a few years back when philly dominated the NFC with a stronger team, they still could neve win when it mattered. at +1250 it isn't a bad wager by any means, but to blindly say philly is the 2nd best team is a bit rediculous IMO.

Yes, I'm telling you right now that Philadelphia is better than Tennessee. Philadelphia is just as good of a team in all the departments as Tennessee is but their passing attack is better. I believe the flaw in with the Titans is that they won't be able to throw the ball if they have to. Throw the records and all that other garbage out the window and just look at fundamentals and tell me how, when Philadelphia has an equal if not better run game and defense than the Titans how the Titans are better when their passing game blows?
Look at all the recent superbowl winners in the past 10 years with the exception of the Ravens. Yes, they all good defenses and run games, but they also had good passing games that could throw the ball and put up points if called upon. THEY WERE EXTREMELY WELL BALANCED, which is pretty much my entire point is that the Eagles have excellent balance and IMO are a very serious superbowl threat.
As far as the "healthy" thing goes, I'm stating that because the Eagles are finally getting healthy on offense and have been without some key players for long stretches, they are still without their best offensive lineman and he should be back down the stretch run. Outside of Umeryiora (who wasn't a part of this season to begin with) what real injuries have the Titans and Giants had to deal with? Missing their top two WR, top RB and top o-lineman for large chunks of time? I don't think so.
I think this Philly team is just as good if not better than the one that dominated the NFC a few years ago. My main argument is they are very well balanced, have a capable passing attack, solid ground game and great defense, what more do you want? I think right now the Giants and Eagles are well above the field and I like Philly at these odds. I think they beat the Giants on Sunday but they may well lose but come playoff time they will be right there and will be an incredibly dangerous team. Again this is all just my opinions and its obvious that most disagree which is fine because it means nothing and we have lots of football to play but I'm telling everyone right now to keep a serious eye on the Eagles.
I'm done.

I dont think the Eagles are the #2 team right now in the NFL but I do have them above the Titans. I think the Steelers are the #1 team with the Giants close behind them.
Titans defense is good but it isnt great. With that being said theres no way that they make it to the Super Bowl. Against a well balance offense they will have trouble. Aaron Rodgers was able to expose that weak secondary. For those that say they have a great running game, go take a look at how great that running game did against the Colts D.
Tennessee. Solid team, but so overrated. I totaly respect how they wear you down and find a way to win, but Baltimore, Indy, and GB all outplayed and deserved to beat the Titans

No way the Eagles are the 2nd best team in the NFL brudda
There 5 wins have been against the
Rams
Steelers
Falcons
Seahwaks
49ers
3 losses to
Dallas
Redskins
Bears
Eagles have only beaten one good team in the Steelers, every other time they have been up against a decent team they have lost(Bears,Cowboys,Redskins)
WOW!!! What a gutsy comment...havent beaten a good team? lol...hmm..steelers have the best defense in the league...they dominated them. last i checked the falcons are pretty decent too....oh and lets not forget....the bears game that SHOULD have been won....lets not forget the monday nighter with dallas that was literally fumbled away by westbrook. and the redskins loss by a slim margin....hmmmm...a bad play call in chicago and a fluke fumble by westbrook and the birds are 7-1 try again! lol

Not to piss anyone of or anything but I'm sick of seeing should have won this should have won that. They lost a loss is a loss in my book. The Bengals should have won a few more games this season too but did they know Chris Perry fumbles late have caused them a chance to win a few more games. You don't see me saying they should have won they didn't play well enough to win. If one turnover causes you a game then you did not play well enough to win a game But back on subject Tennessee is the best team in the NFL at this point, how can you say they aren't they are 8-0 hello they have a terrific defense with a great running game I'll take that any day. The second best team that I have seen this season is the Philadelphia Eagles. They too have a great running game via Westbrook, McNabb has really become a better passer still with some legs. They also have a good defense, with a great defensive coordinator. Another team that I could argue with to being the second best team in the NFL is the Giants. I mean come on they lose Umeniyora sp. sorry and Strahan and still are able to put that much pressure on the QB. Justin Tuck is emerging(Notre Dame) as one of the best pass rushers in the league. He has a non stop motor and is incredibly fast of the line of scrimmage. That team is almost set up perfectly, especially with a below average Eli Manning. Don't care what anyone says if it weren't for the offensive line and the running game he would be dreadful. What do all of these teams have in common? They all have great coaching staffs, up and down. They all play good defense, and all have strong running games. Well that looks like 3 super bowl contenders too me. The Cowboys will not make the playoffs 3 teams out of the East are not getting in this season. Eagles, Giants, Buccaneers, Panthers, Cardinals, Vikings will be the playoff teams in my opinion. If the Vikings could get consistent QB play the rest of the year I could see this team easily making a run to the the super bowl as well. They have a great defense, probably the best running back in the league, and finally have a decent receiver Berrian. So can we please stop with the should have shit, It will make your life a whole lot easier. Thought I might just come in here and add my 45 cents or so to this issue.
PS John Henderson is a box!

They very well could be the 2nd best when they lost to Dallas Romo was still playing and Dallas was on fire but eagles still played them tuff Chi-town is solid this year who knew the drunk had it in him this whole time. Eagles are very good and getting healthier will be solid going into playoffs but then will CHOKE like they always do in the nfc championship but maybe not, but i see it happening

I said I think they have a flaw that will inhibit them from winning it all.
Everybody healthy, scrap the records, Eagles/Titans right now on a neutral field, who is the favorite?
I would take Philly hands down over the Titans today (week 11). Last night put up 31 points on the Giants defense. They lost to the Giants because the Giants offensive line and running backs are just unstoppable. Philly was not able to pressure Eli. Also, Philly's cornerbacks were afraid to hit the RBs in the 2nd half....Brandon Jacobs just punishes people. Mac ....I agree with you that Philly is a team to watch and COVER spreads over the next few weeks!

I bet Philly at 12-1 to win the NFC in May, only have to hope they make the playoffs. There is no doubt in my mind they are the 2nd best team in football, and I think on any given day, they could take the G-men out, but they'll have to do it in NY in late January !
