Bad trade for the Jets.  Holmes will cause more problems than do any good with his lifestyle in NYC

Jets keep taking problematic players (Holmes, Edwards, and Cromartie).  These guys are good players with several issues.  Personally, I am rooting for them to fail.

yeah, i'm going to say this is a bad trade for the jets.  new york is not an ideal place for someone with a substance abuse problem and an arrest problem.  pittsburgh is a well run organization  if they think they should get rid of holmes for a 5th rounder, there's probably more to holmes's issues than we know. 

however, between holmes and braylon, at least they have one highly paid receiver who can catch the ball.

Uhhh...is Big Ben going to be suspended the first four games of the season for violating the league's substance abuse policy? Plus, it's much easier to dump a player of Holmes' caliber than it is your franchise quarterback. Trading Holmes while keeping Big Ben has nothing to do with race. People such as yourself choose to make it about race.

Rex has put guys like RAY LEWIS on a short leash and contained them somewhat... he will lock Holmes and Cromartie down believe it.

Rex doesnt fuck around, perfect example? Kerry Rhodes.

yeah, much easier to replace a wideout than a QB that has won two SBs for you, no issue of race whatsoever, if there was, Big Ben would have different colored backups

who cares what Pitt was about to do. The Jets had to give up a 5th rounder for him. Its a steal for them. If he were a free agent, they would be competing against the other teams in the NFL.

So yes, in case I stuttered the first time, it was a STEAL. And maybe it was a steal for Pitt too since they were "going" to release him. The Jets are doing high fives in the office today, guaranteed.

If you say so. It's a nice pick-up, but having to give up anything for a knucklehead like Holmes who is going to be sitting out the first four of games of the season is a roll of the dice. Don't be surprised if he implodes, along with the rest of the team.

The odds are in their favor, being that they gave up a 5th rounder. And they needed a WR badly. No brainer.

Every professional league is filled with knuckleheads. IMO, he's nor worst than some of the other knuckleheads around. SH feels like he has new life, he'll be out there to prove people wrong. Rex can handle someone like him.

     Holmes is a beast, and if he can keep his head on straight, he'll be good for a long time.  He is capable of great things and a great career, and the Jets are a better team now.  Just keep in mind the "if" up there.

     I'll miss him, but atleast we have Wallace waiting to step up.  That dude might be as good if not better than Holmes.

Don't forget, Cris Carter once had problems similar to Holmes'.  I'm not saying he's another Cris Carter, but the kid could start making better decisions.  Or... maybe he won't.
