Put Ben on most any other team and he and that average QB rating wouldnt be making such a claim.

None of that matters man. It's the man named Dick LeBeau and the 11 guys that roam the field on defense. They were unbelievably good last year and they will be better this year.

He better hope Brady tears another ACL  cause as long as he's around Pitt has zero chance.  Especially since he was beating them with Fred Coleman David Givens Antoine Smith etc.. and now he has weapons.

Steelers O-line will be their downfall, they will be hard-pressed to make the playoffs this year.

He's 9th all time in QB rating.  Also, put Ben on most any other team and that team instantly becomes much better.  Sure Dick is a big reason they won.  So is Ben.

 

Big Ben is gonna be around for another 10+ years.  Hines Ward is still going strong, and then he'll be replaced when he retires.  Mendenhall is too young to be called injury prone or inconsistent.  And Willie has rushed for 4,800 yds in the last 4 seasons.  And the refs didn't give them any Super Bowls. 

Bring something more to the table.

We could sit here and say what if all day.  If Fitzgerald doesn't break free for one score late in the game, the game isn't even close.  There's no point in saying if this and if that.  It was a great game and the Steelers won.  The team came together and and won as a team.  To say that the defense did more than the offense did is really pretty stupid.  They both played pretty well, and well enough to win.  For Ben to drive his team down the field and score in the final two minutes was huge and will be remembered as one of the most clutch performances ever in a Super Bowl.  And I know that pains you.  But it is what it is.

if the 'boys don't win it then it is really irrelevant to me. I hit my bet and thats what I cared about. If Ben, Greg, Seymour or you win a ring I really don't care. I just give the credit where it's due. Sure Ben deserves credit but his defense deserves

.... Please do not give up your day job to start a QB rating system.. ...  Where to start.. Sure this past year the defense carried the Steelers.. But with an offense line with FOUR new starters and playing with the 3rd string RB for most of the year it is to be expected.. But overall your claim of Ben being an average QB is so uniformed its ... Lets not forget playing behind a solid line two years ago he threw for 32 TDS & 11 INT'S ... at a 62% clip... He was the 2nd best QB that year in the NFL hands down only behind Brady.. He has only been in the NFL FIVE YEARS... His  "average stats" for those 5 years is 101 TDS & 69 INTS ... at a 62.4 clip... If you think that is an "average " NFL QB well..  Not to mention TWO SB wins with a winning drive that he took them on vs Zona that was epic.. He shook off a hit on his own TEN yard line on the first play of the drive that 99 % of the QBS in the NFL go down on and zipped it to Holmes for 20 yds.. He goes down game over.. Sure in his first SB game he sucked BUT knowledgeable NFL fans know that he carried them on his shoulders the 3 games on the road to get there.. Outplaying.. Palmer.. Manning ... Jake the Snake..  All this with good WR's but no great wideouts.. Ben is young and the best is yet to come..IMO...O-  Line comes back as a whole with a year under their belt and a healthy Parker & Mendenhall.. To finish off  no matter what Ben's stats were ( and they are GREAT) he is an old throw back type of QB the freaking stats dont tell the whole story in what he means to this team.. I guess I have to bring reality to the table as usual.

2008 Ben was ranked 24th in QB rating with a stellar 80 rating. He ranks 17th in yards per attempt, 21st in completion percentage. He ranked 4th in INT's thrown, 15th in TDs thrown. I wont get into sacks because he scrambles more and sacks is an inaccurate stat, but that said he was second in sacks and given his INT to TD ratio and his INT to completion percentage, he is making bad decisions on a regular basis.

He had ONE good year, two below average years and two which were also above average.

Do something for me, in the 5 years that Ben has been in the league, how did the Stillers rank defensively in those years? A GREAT defense covers up offensive mistakes and he hasnt been required to carry a team like others..say Brees or Warner or Rivers.

2007 helped his TD/INT stats but outside that year he is very average and I would be shocked if he has another 2007 for the rest of his career.

Ben in the beneficiary of a great team, a great defense, a great offensive line, he is average per his abilities and how he would fare on a bad team.
