I'm just shocked that money isn't moving this line up more.  I guess the rivalry thing is keeping people from hammering the fave too much here....

Sure, and maybe Dallas can get the crack pipe out of Michael Irvin's mouth long enough for him to fit TO's cock in there for some sideline entertainment that all the Dallas fans will be sure to enjoy.
 
There's nothing like Redskins/Cowboys.  Despite what I think is going to happen, I'm still like a little kid on X-mas waiting for this game....

Well, Here's my take as a diehard skins Fan.

Take the Cowboys. 

2 Reasons:

1. Redskins D is in awful injury condition.  The strength of this defense is/was its secondary.  With Sean Taylor and Carlos Rodgers out, they have struggled mightily.  They also cannot put pressure on the qb very well.  This is a bend and don't break defense, not one that puts pressure on the QB with a good pass rush and results in qb errors.

2. The Redskins cannot play from behind.  Their game is conservative on offense and defense and is designed to win close games and not lose leads.  Once Dallas passes all over the field on them, and gets a 10+ point lead, the redskins will not be able to come back, they just don't have the weapons to strike quickly.

Special teams and coaching advantages go to the cowboys too.  I hate to say it, but the lack of trust in Jason Campbell means that this offense is not operating a high level because of injuries to the offensive line and its limited big-play making ability. 

I will be buying the hook and taking Dallas -10, but this is also a great game to tease to -3.5 if you play those because it should be a DD win.  No opinion on the over because I don't see Washington getting more than 17 points.

I live about 45 minutes from FedEx field so I have grown up with the Skins.  I am probably more of a Ravens fan than a Skin fan but I do have a soft spot for them.

Anyway, lots of Skins (esp. Clinton Portis) on the various local sports radio shows this week.  This is still not a team with a mission or even a sense of unity.  They are all in love with Joe Gibbs and want to protect him from the growing community sentiment that we can have a winning team or we can have Gibbs.  I was hoping to hear fire and fury but mostly I heard a lot of cliches (gotta do what we gotta do, gotta step up to it, etc).  Portis does seem to have some killer instinct but the rest of the team is too far behind him. 

Jason Campbell could be spectacular if Gibbs would give him some freedom and maybe even let him call his own plays in the Red Zone.  Instead, there is practically a committee that decides  what happens in the Red Zone and Campbell is lucky to get the play before the clock runs out.

My guess is that the Cowboys pound the hell out of the Skins.  I didn't bet on this game but if I did I would likely take the Cowboys straight up.

I would love to be wrong and I hope I am.  But, this is still a seriously dysfunctional team.

I am very confident that cowboys will win this one easily by 2 touchdowns.  However, the O/U line is what i'm interested in.  Personally, I think it is going to be a very lopsided game keeping the score Under the number.  What does everyone else think?

It takes a good man to admit his team dosen't stack up against another i have watched these two teams play some great games over the past 25 - 30 years but like you said injuries and the like will not let the Skins stay close  this time round.  Gotta hand it to you as a die hard fan.

I have heard (believe me if you want) from some folks who know coaches on the skins very well (not Gibbs) that one of their biggest probelms on offense is that Campbell is too stupid to learn Saunders' playbook.  Take that for what its worth, but they have said time and time again that a play is called in and the rest of the team is on the same page, but Campbell things they're running another play.  I haven't seen it as much in recent weeks so maybe he's coming around but it would explain a lot of those "mystery" passes (receiver cuts in, ball gets thrown out) we saw a lot of in the weeks leading up to the Pats game......

I applaud u too. Huge boys fan but when my team is overmatched i usually recognize it. It reassures me to know some skins fans feel the same.

Taylor is big loss but his replacement Prioleau has had lots of game exp as he has started 3 games this yr.

I've actually heard a lot of this as well.  Campbell just doesn't seem to have a grasp of the playbook.  Not that a team should have to dumb-down their playbook for a qb, but Saunders does have a 1,000 page playbook to learn.  I would like nothing more than to see Colt Brennan as a Redskin next year.  Campbell stinks.  Brunell is still better than him at this point.  With Brunell at qb, Moss was among the top 5 receivers in the league.  With Campbell, Moss' play has suffered (although the one game where Moss had 15 drops was not Campbells fault).

Also, the coaching staff is always talking about how Jason throws such a great deep ball, yet we hardly ever go deep....

But Colt Brennan will be bagging groceries with Tammy Chang someplace next year.  Those guys are a product of the system and will never make it in the NFL. 
 
I've never been high on Cambell, but he's actually surprised me and played better than I expected.  Like you said, the GB game wasn't his fault.  They should have won that game, and the Giants game wasn't really his fault either.  So he could very easily have this team at 7-2 right now. 
 
But he doesn't strike me as a very intelligent guy, and when I hear him talk he really sounds like some backwoods country bumpkin that should never have made it past the fifth grade.  Look, the guy had Ronnie Brown AND Cadillac WIlliams in the same fucking backfield his senior year, so you know defenses weren't worried about him.  Shit, give Kyle Boller those two backs right now ans he's probably a pro bowl QB....
 
But the Skins have no options right now at QB.  I would have loved to see them pick up Jeff Garcia in the offseason, but they are handcuffed with GIbbs bible thumping butt buddy Brunell soaking up cash on the sidelines.  I'll never forget a Skins game I was at about three years ago, when a fan held up a sign that said:
 
BRUNELL - GOD might love you but we don't.
 
Anyhow, enough about the greatest team in the NFL....  Why isn't this line moving.  Still starting at me at 10.5 saying, take the points Doggy....  It just feels like one of those, too good to be true lines, but I still can't come up with any reasons to like the Skins on Sunday.....Just surprised enough are on the Redskins to keep this line from going up....

scdoggy - You are right on about the Cadillac and Ronnie Brown point.  I've been saying that since we drafted up to select Jason Campbell.  All I saw him do in college was throw to wide open receivers.  I'm not sold on him as our quarterback of the future (or that stupid mustache of his which he spends more time maintaining than studying the playbook). I was really hoping we would have gone after Drew Brees a couple years ago.
 
As far as the game goes, it'll be a no play for me cause I don't bet on or againts my own teams.  Personally, I also try to avoid betting on any rivalry games.  And as far as rivalries goes, this one may be the best one in sports history.  Injuries, stats, and records are out of the window when bitter rivals meet.
 
My Skins have had some pretty bad teams in the past..well decade, but the Cowgirls have only beaten us by double digits twice in the last 10 meetings.  My point is that this team may have some injuries right now, but we're still better than some of the healthy Skins teams that still managed to keep the games close.  And lets not forget that Hall of Fame Coach Mr. Gibbs is leading the team.  I fully expect him to have the team motivated and ready to play in the most important game of the season (besides the second game against the Cowgirls).  We could go 2-14 and the season would be a success if those two wins were against Dallas.  Do you think freaking Wade Phillips is gonna have as much understanding of how big this game is as Mr. Gibbs??
 
There are better games to bet on this week.
