No BS please but has anyone here ever really seen "sharp" money being played?

I personally have not. Revel us with a great story please!

and Oh BTW with 72% of the public on The Patritots  and the line coming off of 3 to 2, you have to figure the sharp money is pounding Da Bears.

I really doubt anyone here has. Even if you are in a casino and actually see someone place a very large wager there is no way for you to know if that is a sharp or not. That is, unless you actually work at the casino and know from past experience as to who the actual sharps are

Does every time I place a wager count? 

Like everyone else I hear people reporting on the sharps plays, but that's about it.

Just because you are sharp does not make you a sharp

Sharp and square doesn't exist. Either you pick winners or losers. If sharp ever did exist they would have to have inside knowledge or be privy to a fixed game.

I think someone created those labels to feel superior to others.

 

my interpretation of a sharp is someone who plays large bets and fades the  public, like yesterday everyone was on nc. state including myself spread opened at clemson -16 went too 18, yet like 75 % was on n.c. state someone knew something, and it wasn't me even though i knew it might be a bad beat i took it, because i also to cuse vs clemson and that spread was like 24.5 but i don't think there was any reverse line movement, people say the sharps are on bears today, but they also said they were on ucla last night

I am tempted to go work in a book and see if "sharp" money comes in. I feel that it is out there as I see threads and sites that will show 75% of people on one side but the line is moving the other way.

I feel the "sharps" were on the Bears yesterday from the line and the public normally just pounding the Patriots every week. The books were reported to having a very bad day yesterday.

Interesting that of all the people on Covers, none of us have ever seen "sharp" money?

It sure seems Billy Walters was able to make a lot of money.

Sharps are the other guys who bet big money on the other side of the games you lose your bets on. You never really see them but we know they're there. 

I haven't been a physical sports book in years, but the last time I was there was the Palms Book on a Monday morning in September and it was pure sadness. 

Once I was at the Horseshoe in line to make a wager and a tall blond young guy in front of me bet $10K on SF. I was in college and broke as a cockroach and that was the biggest stack of cash I had ever seen then. I thought, there he is, the Sharp. So I changed my wager and tailed with SF, and then lost my bet. I think I would have better luck finding Big Foot in the woods behind my house. 

here's 1. pulled up to red rock to place my bets. saw a Asian guy and a white girl who looked like typical video game players. we just so happen to walk in same time, ladies first, so I was behind them. They went directly to the sports book like me straight to the line...? ok ok so I kinda follow slowly behind and end up behind them.. peeking... we wait like 5 min and get to the line. they're just looking around casually. when they bet dude pulls out 5k of cash that looked liked they scraped together for weeks, I'm talking beat up, and bets it all on Milwalkee brewers Ml over the Cubs in the Wildcard..... I immediately put 140 on it too$. if ironically that was the sharpest money I've ever seen.

Hahhaa, you know that Asian did 200,000 mathematic simulations on that Wild Card game. 

dude I'm not 1 to judge but I swear i saw cheeto stains on his black t. no bs... I knew the the opportunity was ripe. . and boy I know you ain't lying about him prob running 6.3k simulations lolllloool.. respectfully

In this special on Billy Walters at 10:38 - 10:51 he says what Allan Boston, Bob Voulgaris and a host of others always say: Flat betting is for casual bettors having no money management nor decent handicapping skills that just want action on the game - and I agree.

 

However, all of the really good and documented players when they have a really really big edge they up their bets.
