If BB and the pats were smart they would of done it on FIRST down and doubled their win probability, so they aint that smart

yeah that's one option, probably was a better one.

Here are the odds:

An extra point in the NFL is about 99%.  That is what it would have been.  So your choices are:

1.  99% to win by kicking the FG with no time for NE.
2.  Score the TD, and give NE 55 secs to try something like a hail mary.  Maybe 95% (or maybe less).

So yes, you are most likely going to win either way, but I always go back to the probability that gives you the BEST chance to win, and that was the kick.



Just watched the replay.  Seems to me the Pats should have made the decision at the 2 minute warning.  Giants had the ball at the 20.  If they let Bradshaw score there, they have 2 minutes and a time out.

Much ado about nothing ... Like it will be 97 % of the time.. Let them score or not  97% of the time it will be a loss for the losing team.. They will kick the fg 99 % of the time.. And not score 95% of the time.. Better odds for sure  but  in the future NFL will adjust and kneel and not score ... to secure the win... Then once a chippy will be missed and it will change again.. 98 % OF THE TIME WONT MATTER.. But agree its all about the number... But either way not spitting the atom here..

I had the Giants plus 3. I was in a sportsbook .
All my friends were with me and going crazy with the score, I was cursing and swearing and ready to get a moose.
From a sure win to Brady and the Pats with the ball looking for a push.
