disagree,o-line was doing fine when other qb was in. Running game was moving. Where u out getting a hot dog at the time? Offense was actually producing and sometimes in attack mode.

with Russell in, offense was sluggish, no heart, stop playing. Gradkowski gave them lift, and somewhat heart. What is the problem why they cant put frye in? Gradkowski is out next wk. Why not put frye in and sit Russell? They have to know by now their season is over and russell has no value, no upside. See what frye has as backup value, and cut losses w/russell-BUM!

raiders couldn't cut jamarcus russel coz he has a 20 million guarantee on his contract  , thats a bad deal for the raiders ..... ouch

I'm going to have to agree with BigCash. I am a longtime Raider fan. When I lived in Alameda, I was two BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) exits away from the stadium. I think I missed 3 games in 5 years. Russell is the worst I've ever seen, BY FAR, and I've seen some BAD Raider QB's over the past decade, the last decent QB the Raiders have had was Rich Gannon. The Raiders aren't going to win the Superbowl with Gradkowski, but at least the offense moves, SOMETIMES. When Russell is in there, the defense knows that once they give up 17 points they have lost the game because the Russell led offense ain't going to get to 20points 95% of the time. And it's not that difficult to give up 17 points when your QB has a passer rating of 42.

Somebody here on Covers hipped me to Russell's problem a few weeks ago. If you ever look at tape on this guy, you will see that as long as he is allowed to take his drop and get NO PRESSURE, he throws a great ball. But hey, this is the NFL, how often does THAT happen? As soon as this guy is forced to take a step to his left or his right, all bets are off as to where his pass is going. And his other problem is the guy has NO pocket presence at all! It's like the guy has NO lateral vision! Guys just slap the ball right out of his hand. It would be one thing if the guy JUST threw picks, but he throws picks AND fumbles.

I'm sorry, Russell has got to go!! NOW!

I'm a Raider fan, so it's not that I hate the Raiders. I'm a black man, so its not that I hate black QB's. It's a HE SUCKS thing, straight up.

The guy probably cost me the office football pool this week (I took the Raiders for 10 points). I never would have taken the Raiders if I dreamed Russell was going to be in there.

as a long time raider fan, everybody is right as far as i'm concerned.  (the only NFL games i've ever been to have been raider games.)

russell really didn't get the time that gradowski was getting.  several of the sacks were almost instantaneous after he reached the pocket.  however, a lot of this is probably due to morale issues.  he really is horrid.  his teammates know this.  and al davis deserves the blame for bringing the kid in...

on the interception he threw, he had tons of time...  didn't make a damn bit of difference. 

Internet wasn't as popular 6 years ago. Dont worry, he wouldve gotten the same backlash

This is just another reason why these rookies should'nt get those absurd deals on draft day. NFL needs to fix that mess.

Jamaica can't even be a decent back up QB. It is not worth to talk about him period.

It is very very very stupid to put Big Ben in the bad QB group. The guy is a proven winner, 2 super bowls, etc ...

the guy has probably got the strongest arm in the nfl, but that's about it

seems like all that matters to davis and the raiders is how fast a guy is and how far he can throw a football

1.  Cable explained that he put Russell in the game because a 3rd QB would've been too confusing for the rest of the offense.  I don't agree with his logic, but that means Frye will start next week now that they have a week to practice.

2.  Almost everything said about Russell applies to an earlier Raider QB, Kerry Collins.  Just like Collins, Russell will be bounced from 2 or 3 teams.  Then he'll settle down as a backup QB, grow up, focus, lose weight, and work hard.  Then one day he'll get a chance to start.

3.  Russell will never re-negotiate his contract.  He knows that he can retire on $32M.  So what if he never plays again?  Right now, I don't think he wants to play anyway.

4.  The word senile is vague.  Davis is legally competent.  The NFL commissioner paid a friendly visit to see if Davis could have a coherent conversation.  They did.  There is no legal recourse for the NFL or the partners.  Balls have nothing to do with it.

In the Redskins game I had a 9 team teaser going, I needed the Redskins -4 and the over of 33. When I saw that Jamarcus Russell was in the game I was already counting my cash. Thanks for the Christmas money Jamarcus! IT IS WHAT IT IS

agree with marny poly.   The rookie contract system is ridiculous..  they get paid way too much but this flawed system has nothing to do with the horrible drafting of the raiders.  Al Davis is a complete joke, and their draft history is unbelievably bad. To compare Tim Couch to Russell isnt even fair because Russell couldnt even touch Couch at this point.
