Luck will have a tougher year as do most qb's going into the 2nd year
Brees and the saints still have Swiss cheese defense.
Flaco can't do it all by himself.

They will be more improved but 0-5 that is desperately reaching
2-3 or 3-2 off the gates are fair guesses.

lot of assumptions there big guy won't be surprised if Geno and/or EJ manuel actually play well

Normally I would never agree to a bet with a stranger like this but since Jimmy vouched for you in the college forum I will take you up on this if you're serious.  I won't even make it hard on you, I'll keep the amount very low.  PM me if you're serious.

Taking a step back and looking at their schdule, 0-5 is fathomable. They could lose a bunch of close games and have terrible luck/injury.

Even if this did happen, the streak would not get to 6. Week 7 against the Bills is a game Miami will win and will cover. The mentality of the Dolphins locker room (from different sites and Mike Wallaces mouth) is a hungry team with a college mentality of being disrespected. They are not just going to just lay down and lose game after game. It just won't happen. Sure their schedule is tough, but this is the NFL. The only game that really scares me early in the year is Atlanta, and its at home. I have a good feeling about the game in New Orleans on MNF. Young team will definitely be up for their first primetime game of the year.

btw - from my experience on this site Mafioso is a straight up guy. I believe he owns a restaurant and have never seen anyone bad mouthing him or him not pay some sort of wager.

Im not saying the dolphins will no doubt start 0-5. But anything can happen in this league. And personally, Im not sold on the phins yet. Those first 5 games are brutal enough to absolutely make a wager like that

Their seems to spark about this years team. Maybe not quite like the one in 2008, but expectations are high of Tannehill and the offense in south Florida. I'm pretty high on him and Miller. Imho Luck and Tannehill are the future at the qb position in the afc.

The questions about the oline and db's has already been beat to death. To offer a little bit of hopefully different insight....Javorskie Lane is looking to maintain the starting fb position, but probably won't play a huge role on the team. The TE role will be much different than in the past. Fasano was terrible underrated when here, was maybe not the dynamic pass catcher but is one of the best blocking te's in the game. Keller is the opposite and will be a receiving option that Tannehill didnt have his rookie year. Dion Sims will make it due to draft position and then Clay and Egnew battle out for the final spot.

After Tannehill what I am most excited to see is the new looks on the def front seven. It's probably top 3 in the league. Last year Miami was stout against the run. Despite being 7th overall in sacks they didn't generate as much pressure as indicated by the ranking. Coyle has so many different looks to play with.

    Wake--Starks--Odrick--Jordan
    Misi--Ellerbee--Wheeler

Cam Wake and Jordan can play standing up or with their hand in the dirt, although Wake is a much better fit in the 4-3. There is a lot of speed on both sides of the ball. I'm thinking 9-7 give or take, leaning towards the take.

I'm hoping Dion Jordan can be a factor and get double digit sacks.

It's just going to make Cameron Wake's job that much easier

early reports is that Grimes is looking real good. Sean Smith was a tough CB to lose and if any of their starting CB's get hurt they might be in trouble. They have a couple rookies though that seem promising.

When the defensive front is seen as a strength, good things should happen. They have not only the pass rush, but some depth.

The season all depends on the QB. Do you have a guy who is unfazed down 13 going into the 4th? Can he extend the play if needed? What is his ceiling?

Most of all, can this team move the chains. They have been so stagnant on offense for the better part of a decade. Besides the whole Wildcat gimmick, when was the last time the Dolphins were feared offensively? You have to go back to Marino. And don't try and argue Jay Fiedler's reign as "game manager."

This year there is a buzz. Could be special, or like teams assembled via free agency, could fizzle.

Very tough loss with Keller, he was most likely going to have a 70 catch year.

Injuries happen, and I expect Miami to go out and get another tight end, but the players around him have to stand up. Esepcially underachieving Michael Egnew who is showing alittle promise.

    Tannehill looking sharp.

    Another quick point.

Miami's offensive line has not looked too good so far. Me and a good friend (who is also a Fins fan) were talking about this, and we agree the offensive line is the difference between 8-8 (and 'theres always next year') and 11-5 and making noise.

This offense is too dangerous to give Tannehill time. The offensive line needs to play well, its as simple as that.

Do not underestimate the Browns front 7. The Dolphins might not find the endzone week 1.

Miami cut Richard Marshall today, which makes me very happy.

I like Marshall, and he is a decent NFL cornerback, but this shows to me Miami's coaching staff is happy with the progression the young corners are making.

Miami's secondary is playing very, very well with the rookie Will Davis playing above relatively high expectations.

To the people saying starting 0-5 is basically what should/will happen, I understand what you are thinking and im just shaking my head. Suprises are around the corner for you. I'm sure half of you will be bragging to your friends week 8 "yeah i knew the Dolphins would be good, I picked up Tannehill as my backup in fantasy!"

I hope you don't bet against the Fins week 1 and 2, make it a no play instead of a fade. You'll be glad you did. This is the NFL and anything can happen. garbage could hit the fan and they could go 0-5, but as sportsbettors, handicappers, and fans all we can do is look at a situation, analyze it and play the odds.

0-5 just absolutely will not happen. It won't.

Miami's front 7 is better than Clevelands front 7. Please debate me on that if you want.

I'm not sleeping on Cleveland, I think they will have a 7-9, 8-8 type season. Week 1 will be a tough game.

Not that big of a loss.  O-Line only allowed 5 sacks in last 3 games last season without Long.  Jonathan Martin will be fine in the LT and Tyson Clabo was very solid for the Falcons.  Incognito was Pro Bowl alternate and Pouncey is a very nice Center.  Their O-Line will be solid without Long.

Browns are more banged up than Dolphins are right now.

They're hurting offensively and 1st Rounder Mingo is banged up on the defensive side of the ball.

Keller and Nate Garner are out for Miami for the offense and Dion Jordan is nursing a shoulder injury for the D.

Last 5 years, Miami is 2-3 ATS as road favs.  Currently Miami -1 @ Cleveland.  Miami 3-6 ATS as a 3 point or less fav in last 5 years.  Last 5 years they are 8-16 ATS as single digit favorites.  Miami only 4-12 SU last two years on the road.

Last 5 years, Browns are 13-12 ATS as home dog.  Browns are 6-11-1 ATS as 3 point or less dog in last 5 years.  22-21-2 last 5 years as single digit dogs.  Browns are 7-9 SU last two years at home.

In 2011, Browns were -1 at home vs Miami and won 17-16.
