term has been so overused its lost its definition. watered down to the point there is no difference between a moose a bad beat or just being on the wrong side

an unexpected (generally) unforseen turn of events altering the end result where you find yourself asking WTF just happened? to me is a Moose   

Games like these are :
 sea/SF taking points off the board by declining a penalty resulting in a safety,
Ventura passing runners on base keeping a game under, Polamalu play vs SD a couple years ago
GB/Sea play that ended the lockout
NBA team scoring 27 pts in less than a minute to take a game over the total
Having under 1.5 goals for a period and 2 goals score in the final 10 seconds
Miracle in the Meadowlands play

Being on a team playing prevent defense does not fall into that category:
clev and ne
Stevie Wonder saw those backdoors coming
 I dont think anyone was asking themselves wtf just happened in these games

Nice, I agree it is totally wrongly used/over used.
If a team scores in the last minute to win the game, I guess you can call it a moose, but to me the real meaning was a team scoring a MEANINGLESS score to make you lose your bet OR a borderline miracle play that nobody could have seen coming when you were already counting your money.

Either way the only moose I ever want to see is chocolate!

Biggest  of the weekend... Dallas vs. Philly

I was at a friend's place and catching the tail end of the SNF game.
He was jumping for joy when the Cowgirls scored their last TD and the Eagles turned the ball over on downs with under 2 minutes to go.. thinking the game was over with the Cowgirls sporting a 11 point lead to over the 10 points.. he started dancing, while I started shaking my head...

"What are you shaking your head for?" he asked...
me, "Sit down the game is not over yet".
"What can the Eagles do with under a minute deep in their 20?" he yells back why dancing still...

Then as the punt and the punt return unfolds...he face or jaw rather.. dropped to the floor...

That is a Moose! 

Lesson learned for him... a bet is never won until you see 0:00.

No that's what happens when you/someone plays the Chargers ...or Lions now

They always find a way to lose... SD had a chance to tie yesterday ...nope rivers INT in endzone - game over -

every game they lost this year you will find that one play that does them in...could be before half time or at the end ...doesn't matter - they will find a way to lose

ok... in college football greatest moose of the season...and for those that doesnt beleive some coaches play to cover the spread .....

BYU vs IDAHO -- spread idaho -40  .... the score on the final 30 seconds  BYU 52 Idaho 10 .... Idaho in BYU redzone ----trying to score the meaningless garbage TD, BYU just not letting that happen , couldnt get it in 1st and 2nd down .... so the coach with 6 seconds left in the game down by 42 CALLS A TIME OUT.... get inside the FG unit to kick an even meaningless FG  ........ and the final score---52 -13 ...... thats a moose

A moose is, NFL football.  Every single week there are tons of teams that back door the lines.  This weekend was one of the worst I can remember.  Maybe it has to do with I played the majority of the games involving the moose. However, it pays to be a good moose hunter, I finished the day going 7-1-1.  Practice your bugle and you will be fine.
