Why do you say that it is fixed?

Now, I am assuming that this is in response to tonight's game - so are we talking about the flags, the play calls, or the Ben Roethlisberger injury?

I felt like most of the calls on the field by the officials were rather consistent with the play. Kansas City screwed themselves in penalties, if they would have had half of the ones that they had I think that they could have carried the game away from Pittsburg. I think that the injury will be interesting to see how it plays out this week. Although I do not think that the NFL games are fixed by Vegas - although I can understand your frustration if you, like myself, fired heavily on the Steelers ATS - I do think that it will be interesting to see when Ben comes back. If he is back practicing immediately I will be more skeptical.

Colin Cowherd made a good point during his Friday broadcast when a caller made a comment about the games being fixed: if the League/Vegas were to fix a game they wouldn't pick a game on a Sunday or Monday night in primetime, they would choose a game in Week 16 and two teams that had no chance of going to the playoffs.

I dunno about fixed, but there was some really lame calls that went against kc tonight that should have just been no calls. Call it home cooking or whatever u want but kc should have won this game.

when i saw 2nd haft -7.i took Kc right away..it smelled as fish sauce ..
turned TV and know for sure ...Pits not gonna win over 7

why is all the pitt backers so pissed?13 points was way too much!!!on the bowe td there was no off.holding but that was the call,im just happy i had my team kc!!!

Pittsburg backers are fixed because we fell hard for what we thought was a fantastic line. Most of us selected the -13, -13.5, or -14 thinking that we were sticking it to Vegas and that it was a steal. In hindsight it was one of the stupidest things that I have done this year (went 6 units - biggest fire of the year - for it after going 3 yesterday for Chicago). I fired hard thinking that I would not only make up ground from yesterday but be rolling cash, now I'm looking at a rather low bank. But that's the way that some weeks go. 

Lesson Learned: Don't be greedy.

I am with you on the greedy....

 

After bad start this year, and week ago was up 40% YTD..

Then I was off work, played shitty games (at increased wager amount) and destryed the gravy on shitty tues/wed pm games and went big on Ducks sat pm on 1h and 1q plays.

 

Stupid but you live and learn

yup...all 3 big favs lost AST and could have lost the game easily   ...vegas got there money back but not becuase it's fixed...but becasue of parity

I took every big dog this weekend because I read because Vegas got killed so bad last week they just inflated all the lines.. I think Vegas just adjusted and won.. definitely not fixed.. now NBA is a different story...

Game tied 13- 13 refs rule fumble and TD

How can you have a celebration rule on a TD if there is no TD ?

If there is no personal foul involved(harmed party) than the celebration should be deemed as not to have occurred since the TD was ruled having not occurred.

Where is the integrity and responsibility of the refs who called it a fumble/TD ? If this were a playoff game would that stand as acceptable ?

Leftwich was gifted with field position from a penalty that was based on an overturned ruling. A Game Changing ruling

Shouldn't the penalty be overturned also ? Really

A very bad situational spot for the Steelers and it showed. They were never emotionally into that game an only won because of some bad calls and ultra conservative play calling by the Chiefs....

i have no idea on the rule but it prob. falls under the 'personal foul' category where it is enforced no matter what has prev. occured...

again...just stabbing in the dark ...but i loved it! Dumb ass Chiefs...

its explicitly in the rule book that personal foul penalties are always enforced, even on overturned plays. If they didnt enforce the penalty, THEN you might be onto something with the whole "fix" thing...

Excessive celebration is a personal foul; its taunting and according to the NFL rule books; whether we like it as fans or not, the NFL has decided its simply not in the interests of pro football to have players doing stupid non-football related shit whenever they feel like it. The NFL believes it has to enforce personal foul penalties because they are trying to deter behaviour; they dont want 15yards pens for taunting, they want no taunting all together.

 It would be the same consequence as if a coach wandered out onto a field to get the refs attention to overturn a call; the play might be reversed, but the coach will still get flagged for stepping out of the coaching box. They dont want coaches leaving the box, even if they do positively impact the game.

Do you honestly believe vegas, or whomever, influences the outcomes of that many sporting events, particularly prime time games or sports/events with large audiences? 

Think rationally about it.

The line in a game is initially created by the books, however the betting market determines where the number moves and eventually closes.  What your book is trying to do in all of this, is get the same amount of ACTION on each side. If you have $100 coming in on each side @-105, you are GUARANTEED to make money, with effectively 0 risk.  

So ask yourself, when vegas can guarantee a profit on ANY event, why would they set a line to put the majority of action (i.e. the public) disproportionately on one side of an event, thereby adding risk, thereby not guaranteeing a profit. They could get slaughtered by a strange bounce or bad FG kick.

Of course, books are caught with their pants down sometimes. sometimes they are forced to "cheer" for a certain side, but in reality, long-term they know they are going to win. Whether the big public fav covers or not USUALLY doesnt matter, because if the public wins one week, a considerable portion will piss away their winnings following the same "formula" that helped them the previous week.

 Do you honestly believe the most profitable part of sports betting for books is OUTCOMES and not the vig? 

Have you seen the financial reports out of vegas? In 2011 Nevada had $2.8B bet on sports, and only grossed $140M.Thats just under 5cents per $1.00 wagered. Does that come from fixing games, or from scooping risk free juice? Please dont try and argue they are fudging their account, because you can google how much they make from Penny slots; Its ALOT more and very, very public, and people still play them. They dont need to hide info from us, we WANT to make bad decisions.

 not to mention to influence the final score in NFL games, you would have to spend a considerable amount of time and money to get to the refs/players that are apparently touchable in the eyes of so many covers users. Bovada and SIA hang completely different numbers than Pinnacle, yet you mean to tell me somewhere, someone is paying a ref to finish a game at a 13points win margin over a 16point win margin? 

Bovada might win, while pinny gets raked....how can they both still be in business if they are chasing outcomes?

2 : 90 % of rain slow down pitt offense

3 : Dont let the line fool you. NFL is bet on numbers , not bet on          any teams

Even with big ben gonna play at the second half , is going to be same result.... in my opinion , pitt is pretty lucky to won the game..
