Before the line continues to climb...was -3.5 last night already up to -4.5...it will probably be -6 or more by kick-off.

Denver and Manning has had a great run, but like the Seattle/Denver match-up, I feel we will see the exact same outcome.

I will take nothing away from Denver and their #1 defense, but unlike times in the past, a great D is not enough anymore.

Denver dominated most of the year, and especially yesterday.

But, this will be a whole new animal.

    1) This will not be a home game.  The Pats had to use silent counts, which allowed Denver to fly off the ball.  A few times Miller was across the line before the Pats Online was even moving yet.  This will not be the case.

    2) Denver was blitzing like crazy because Brady cant move.  If you blitz like that against Cam, you are playing with fire on scrambles.

    3) Carolina's O-Line is much better.

    4) Denver was blitzing and stopping the short passes...Car spreads the field and throws deep.

    5) Carolina has so many options off the run.  The read-option, QB draw, reverses...

Then you have to look at the other side...

Manning has been one of the best ever.  But, not anymore.

Denver just won the game with 176yds passing, 12 first down, maybe 1 or 2 in the 2nd half if that.  After the 1st drive of the game, he had 110yds total...

This Carolina D is for real..

I think this is going to be an ugly Superbowl and wont even be competitive in the 4th quarter...

    Carolina -3 1st half $2500
    Carolina -4.5 full game $5000

Gt doesnt have props out yet...will def sprinkle on those including Carolina winning by 10+

    Good luck to all

You are on the right side, but it is scary that you think the line is climbing, it is dropping.
    It opened at 5.5.

Agreed. Carolina proves that they weren't just lucky to go 15-1.

if you can't see what's about to happen to Denver then you haven't been watching Carolina dispose of teams in basically 30 minutes. The bigger the game the better they play. NE almost beat DEN without a real running game on the road. Peyton is a known commodity, he's got a ring, Cam is the future in the NFL whether they like it or love it and a torch passing exercise is more likely than a Peyton sunset ride.

how is it that every post in here supporting carolina is lauding their "incredible, unstoppable offense" now when just 3 and 4 weeks ago,and each proceeding week, almost every poster to a man was pointing out the weakness and limited nature of their receivers(who most said needed name-tags to even be recognised) and rushing threats as well, most "experts"only recognised olsen as a guy that can hurt you.(outside of cam scrambling and breaking out)......all those people mainly attributed their strong scoring output to their supposedly weak schedule, plus wat the defense creates of course, and were just waiting on them to fail when really tested.
and now the narrative has completely flipped and suddenly they are the greatest scoring machine in history with amazing attacking options everywhere...so......wat changed??..they got a whole new roster since or??

help me out here,i dont actually watch gridiron but i do read a lot of posts from many dudes here.......have all of these "no-names" seriously improved that much??or was the initial impression completely and utterly wrong and all their skill players grossly under-rated??

What should be concerning CAR backers is the fact that the panthers stud defense has been checking in members to the injured club these last two weeks.  Panthers were able to negate their secondary deficiencies (4th/5th string players???) by keeping Palmer scared, scrambling or crying on his backside.  Cards NEVER had a shot once Palmer got rattled.  I don't think they will be that effective at rattling Manning.  Also, It's not like Manning has NOBODIES out there running routes.  Sanders could have a good day if Panthers still have to rely on Finnegan and the other dude come SB50.

Further, what I think is being overlooked is that CAR will not have the benefit of playing at home in front of the home crowd.  While not a true "road" game, I do expect more Bronco fans in Santa Clara (could be wrong of course).  With that said, Panther backers should look closely at how CAR has performed on the road and how "dominant" that defense has been.

    W1@JAX:  20-9 (10-9 HT)
    W4@TB:  27-23 (17-10 HT)
    W6@ SEA:  27-23 (7-10 HT)
    W10@TEN:  27-10 (14-10 HT)
    W12@DAL:  33-14 (23-3 HT)
    W13@NO:  41-38 (13-16 HT)
    W15@NYG:  38-35 (21-7 HT)
    W16@ATL:  13-20  (7-7 HT)

SEA win is solid...OTOH, this was early in the season before Seattle was "Seattle" like we know them.

    14-10 at HT to Tennessee?

Only 3 first half FGs on offense against DAL but lucked out with 2 Pick-6s from a rusty Romo to put the game out of reach at HT?

Only 13 points and LOSING at HT to the defenseless Saints?

13 against that defensive power house ATL and the outright loss?  If this panthers team was THAT good there is NO WAY they lose this game no matter HOW bad the spot they are in.  Just doesn't happen.

All in all they've been no where near dominant and much less impressive away from home this season, both on offense and defense.  The No. 1 seed was HUGE for this team.  They got the road weary Hawks with a week of rest under their belt and then faced arguably the most UNRELIABLE QB under pressure in these entire playoffs.  Now they face THE BEST defense in the NFL this year AND the ultimate game manager QB that realizes his job is now to protect the ball at all costs and NOT to force it to try and win games.  I hope they aren't expecting to get even HALF the turnovers in this game that they did last game.

Anyways, enough from me, I'll close with this:  To Panthers backers...look at their entire body of work.  Do not get hypnotized by the last two weeks when the Panthers had the near OPTIMAL setup in both HFA AND the particular teams they faced (In my opinion, in hindsight).  I personally think this will be an extremely tight game down to the wire and believe Manning still has enough in him to expose some of the weaknesses in CAR's defense, particularly with their injured secondary.  The veterans on DEN will be the difference against the young Panthers who have never been to the big show before.

Definitely the right side but you missed one of the biggest factors in this game in your explanation... Denver hasn't faced a team with a running game yet in the playoffs.  Pitt actually had some success with their 3rd and 4th string but it was by no means the focus.  NE had zero shot of running the ball, which allowed the pass rush to be so ferocious for Denver.  Carolina WILL run the ball and you're gonna see wholes open up on that Denver d.  I think this game will be closer than most think, but Carolina still wins by dd.
Ppl keep looking at the wrong angles to this game and overthinking the match up.  Going back and looking at a teams entire body of work is fine, but it's not the right way to cap this game.  There's this thing called momentum in sports.  And it is generally over looked by most.  Carolina is a completely different team this post season.  Sure, they'be gotten some breaks, but that's what good teams do.

You don't think Carolina defense can do the same thing to Denver and Manning?

Manning just had a WHOOPING 176yds passing and 12 first downs, 60yds and 4 first downs which came on the first drive of the game..

Carolina's defense is far superior to that of New Englands...

Exactly....Den beat Pitt and NE who are pass happy teams that play into the best 2 strengths  of Denver...the pass rush and Db's...

Carolina revolves around the runs, and a running game Denver hasnt seen this year

Being at home, Denver was able to use the crowd to help their pass rush...Miller looked like he was in the backfield before NE even snapped the ball...that wont happen on a neutral field...plus you cant blitz like they were blitzing Brady...

I dont think this game will be close in the 2nd half

As long as Denver gets their safeties back, I think they will be alright.  It will be the opposite game plan against the Panthers than it was against NE.  Panthers passing game isn't frightening the Broncos.  Broncos are talented enough in their secondary to allow the front seven to do their job and concentrate more on stopping the run and Cam.  Pitt was the only real dual threat team the Broncos have faced.  If they had DeAngelo or LeVeon, they probably would have the best chance matchup wise to beat this Denver defense.  3rd string just wasn't good enough.  I'm not saying the Panther's passing attack is absolute trash...but you can't be just average and beat this Denver pass D.

Agree on momentum but you can't throw out body of work either. Gotta take all factors into account.  It's much easier to have "momentum" while playing at home (and rested).  Ask the Redskins.  Ask New Orleans the last idk...forever.

I keep hearing this from Panther backers about how good their defense is and how much their D will hold down the Denver O.

Does it matter if Carolina holds Manning to a sub par stat line? Hasn't pretty much EVERY team they faced this year held Manning and the Denver offense to a sub par stat line?  Yet they still won games and the no. 1 seed.  They've won games against potent passing attacks and potent running attacks and teams that can do both.

Obviously offense isn't that integral for the Broncos to win...other than scoring one more point that Carolina does, which can be done or set up by the defense.  If it comes down to that and the difference will be points caused directly by the defenses, I'd be more inclined to say Cam "I'm superman and I can win this game myself" Newton will blink first and make more mistakes playing in his first superbowl than Peyton "noodle arm, game manager" Manning will.

Carolina's defense is far superior to that of New Englands...

UHHH, Brady has the quickest release in the NFL. Coincidentally, it was cited as the ONE reason Denver's defense would NOT get to him.

We all know how THAT worked out, huh ????

Denver won by 2 points at home, this isn't a home game for them.

Who cares if Brady has a quick release, if they have to use the same snap count, which allows Denver to fly off the ball, press the Wr's??  It wont happen again...NE was passing the ball 99.5% of the time...it won't happen again...

What Denver just did at HOME, to both Pitt and NE, they will have to change their game plan 100% to stop Carolina...a running game they haven't seen all year long.

Like you said in your thread...stop clogging my thread with garbage...keep your conspiracy theories to yourself...blow-out city

How about we make a friendly wager?  Name the amount?  Ill even give you -6.5 points, because this game will not be within a TD

Please...for the 3rd time...please show me where/when I picked NE to beat Denver??  Please do

And, I didnt bet Zona.  I had the over.  Taking a team with 6 minutes left in the 2nd quarter isnt picking them?  Betting them before the game is

Let me try and explain this to you...there was a chance at great value for in-game bet on Zona...I made the bet at +425 with Zona getting the ball back...the over was pretty much a lock already so why not try to make more?  If Zona doesnt fumble that punts and scores, then gets a stop and score, I can then bet Carolina and get free money either way?  Make sense at all??  It was a great risk at the time...it wasnt "picking" Zona...sorry if you cant comprehend it

Agree on momentum but you can't throw out body of work either. Gotta take all factors into account.  It's much easier to have "momentum" while playing at home (and rested).  Ask the Redskins.  Ask New Orleans the last idk...forever.

We just have to agree to disagree.  I think the combination of Stewart running and Cam's ability to scramble will cause some major problems for the Denver d.  Safeties back or not, I don't think they are gonna keep Ginn, Funches (spelling) and Olson from making big plays in the passing game.  The only way it doesn't happen is if Denver gets serious pressure on Cam rushing 4 and I personally don't see it happening.  The run game is gonna slow those guys down a ton.  Plus, Carolina's tackles are light years better, imo, than either Pitt or NE, ESPECIALLY NE.  I don't think that secondary is gonna hold up long enough if the rush doesn't get there.  And I think Cam is gonna scramble if it does.  And all this is just Denver's d vs Carolina's o.  Denver offensively is gonna struggle to run the ball and struggle stopping the interior pass rush of Carolina.  That will cause havoc.

But we shall see.  I think it'll be entertaining for a while for everyone.  But only Carolina backers will be entertained the full 60

    Completely agree

Carolina's O-line is far superior to that of Pitt and NE....add it to the fact that Brady and Ben dont run, they move in the pocket but dont run.

Against Pitt and NE, there was 95% chance of a pass, so blitzing like crazy was ok, but against Carolina its 50/50...

Plus, not only can Cam move in the pocket, he is the biggest RB they have.

Miller and Ware had MONSTER games against NE, but lets see how they do against the read-option and worrying about constant reverses with Ginn, or Cam runs...

FWIW Denver did not blitz Brady like crazy. They only blitzed 16% of the time yet got pressure because of NE's poor O-line.
I have to imagine Wade Phillips is going to crowd the line and stop the run game first and keep Cam in the pocket.  Take your chances with Cam beating the Broncos secondary.
