No the off. line was pushing forward as usual and the RB was too.

Thats what they SHOULD HAVE DONE----Take 2 KNEES vs the no tomeout chiefs and kick the FG.

might not have been a kneel down though.. think they were running it into field goal position

They did that from a regular play, not a kneeldown. They were running out the clock

i would hope the true homer fans were on this line as soon as they seen -7, so they either pushed or bought it down to 6.5

either way, not smart to take the garbage -7.5, -8, -9 when -7 was there all week

Not only has there never been a failed kneeldown in NFL, there's never been one in college either. Fumbled yes, but never a lost/failed one.

Nevertheless, niners could have take the safety and make it a 2 posession with 45 second and no timeout on Hawks.

 

Gotta love it when Harbaught had $$$$ on Hawks as well

As a coach, the game is won either way if you win by 7 from two kneel downs or win by 9 with a safety.  The intelligent choice is to take the kneel downs because you avoid physical contact with the other team which usually leads to unnecessary injuries.  Imagine what would have happened to Kyle Williams or Ted Ginn if they were to get injured and out for the year on a meaningless punt return.  Think like the coach, not the gambling idiot.

True, this line was very tight and sharp, everyonr knew it would be. But the fans would have got screwed.  The degenerates may have pushed depending on when they placed their bet.  What I mean is that not all fans are denerate gamblers.

The idiocy in this forum tonight is incredible, plain and simple, you always want to have the ball in your possession.

 Harbaugh made the right call,  ( I had seattle + 9.5, so it did not matter to me).  All this talk about rewarding the defence and padding your score means shit to Harbaugh, his call guaranteed that Seattle would not touch the ball again.

Seattle failed to convert a 4th and 17. Taking the down would turn it over to 9ers. Take a knee and go home with a W.

I totally agree with the above comment, it was the correct call.

Jim H had two options to put the game away. First was to takeover on downs, or accept the penalty which made the game a two score game. He got the two score lead and won the game, instead he over coached the situation and chose to take points off the board after the game was won!

Exactly.  And if you accept the penalty, you no longer have the ball in your possession.  You will then be forced to attempt to recover a free kick from the opposing team.  Listen to what almost happened in the Seattle / Carolina game, mentioned in this video:

good arguments both ways. it was a long shot for niner  backers anyway that there was a safety called. but what about the angle of niners taking the safety to get points for tie breaking purposes if necessary for post season, especially for a close nfc west.
