    Ask yourself this question........

Which team is most likely to consistently perform at
a high level on BOTH sides of the ball in this critical
matchup where everything is on the line

Oddsmakers are forcing bettors to make their best
judgement in this matter, as the game is essentially
    a pick.

In a typical NFL game, a team has 9 opportunities
( drives ) to produce points and the same number
of opportunities that require a team from preventing
their opponent from producing points. Which team
is likely to be most efficient at this.

The key to determining this lies not only in the
players taking the field, but also in which team is
most likely to prepare their team and equip them
with a sound strategy ( gameplan ) to insure
    success.

If a clear answer to this question is not forthcoming ,
be careful in wagering on this game.

It is easy for bettors to fall in love with Team A's
passing game , or Team B's defense , and make a
wager solelly on that basis. We are currently seeing
a lot of that " Love " showing up in many threads
currently circulating. Fall in love with the team that
is most capable of giving their best TOTAL effort.

The clear cut answer to all that is the 49ers.

Better overall team and I believe they will have the better overall gameplan.

Just to play Devil's Advocate, how did these teams perform in the last 5 weeks of the season?

SF 3-2 with every win within a score; point differentials: 2, 3, 5

    KC 5-0 only 1 win within a TD; point differentials: 7, 10, 20, 23, 31

Was the SOS the same? Probably not, but for both to be representing their respective conferences you should expect them to beat every team they face (convincingly), only 1 of these teams has.

and to play devils advocate to that.

How has SF played their past two games (playoff games where it is most important and where no one truly trusted them)?

    Blew both opponents out...

Just to play Devil's Advocate, how did these teams perform in the last 5 weeks of the season? SF 3-2 with every win within a score; point differentials: 2, 3, 5 KC 5-0 only 1 win within a TD; point differentials: 7, 10, 20, 23, 31 Was the SOS the same? Probably not, but for both to be representing their respective conferences you should expect them to beat every team they face (convincingly), only 1 of these teams has.
and to play devils advocate to that.  How has SF played their past two games (playoff games where it is most important and where no one truly trusted them)? Blew both opponents out...

DVOA rankings going into those games:

    3 KC

    4 TEN (played KC)

    5 SF

    8 MIN (played SF)

    15 GB (played SF)

    23 HOU (played KC)

judgement in this matter, as the game is essentially
    a pick.

In a typical NFL game, a team has 9 opportunities
( drives ) to produce points and the same number
of opportunities that require a team from preventing
their opponent from producing points. Which team
is likely to be most efficient at this.

The key to determining this lies not only in the

If a clear answer to this question is not forthcoming ,
be careful in wagering on this game.

It is easy for bettors to fall in love with Team A's

wager solelly on that basis. We are currently seeing
a lot of that " Love " showing up in many threads
currently circulating. Fall in love with the team that
is most capable of giving their best TOTAL effort.

FWIW , I think that both teams grade out pretty
evenly overall . That is why I chose a play on the
    total at Over  51 1/2.

I do think that one team has an edge that the other
does not possess. One team gives their QB the
ability to change plays and a free reign to improvise
based on what the Defense shows him. That IMO
may be the difference in the outcome of this game.

It will be interesting to see how this game plays out.

I have a modest future bet locked in on 49ers, and will likely make a few small prop bet wagers , perhaps a totals bet for a little---no reason for me to do more than dabble with no pointspread dog to wager on

Who knows, the 49ers are obviously the more balanced well rounded team but does that necessarily make them more likely to consistently perform at a high level on both sides of the ball?

Does the team that "consistently performs at a high level on both sides" even win this game? KC could just be okay on defense but still outscore the 49ers with their crazy strong offense that can put up a million points on anyone...

49ers secondary proved quite vulnerable in must win game week 17 against the Seahawks who have a strong passing attack. Up 26-14 they let Wilson quickly drive down the field to score a TD and then he again immediately made another drive down to the SF 5 yd goal line where SF barely stopped them to win the game at the very end of the 4th quarter.

49ers secondary has consistently shown to be very beatable so against the ultimate passing attack that KC has they're going to be very reliant on having success heavily pressuring Mahomes and ball control against KC defense...

You are on the right track in your thought process on
    this.
I tend to look at matchups from a strategic and also
a tactical perspective. Much more like a coaching
staff would. My notes pointed to a few key things to
    watch.
    Rushing Offense

The Niners are known and well respected for their
Rushing Offense, so Is Tennessee. KC outrushed
Tennessee and they did it solelly to counteract the
    Titans Pass coverage scheme.

    Passing Offense

You are correct in your assessment of the Niners
pass defense . Beyond Sherman, I do not think
the Niners have the speed to defend the KC WR
speed and improvisational skills on a consistent
    basis.

    Rushing Defense

KC based on Down and Distance, played Zero and
sold out to stop the Titans rush offense . This was a
high risk strategy that worked vs Tennessee , once
KC adjusted to their blocking scheme. This same
strategy may / or may not work vs the Niners. I'm
sure the Niners saw the same thing I did and may
go to " play action " change the dynamic for the SB.

    Pass Defense

The Niners pass rush is the key here. FWIW , the
Titans used some creative schemes to rush the QB
and KC countered with some very creative pass
blocking schemes, I expect this to be a key area in
determining the result of this game.

As I said , I'm looking forward to seeing the tactical
aspects of this game play out in real time.
May the most well prepared team win.

Thanks for your input. Good Luck

Thank you.I am a firm believer in passing on a
wager if I do not have a definitive edge vs the
line . When the edge translates to Coaching and /
or gameplanning , It's tough to know which side to
wager on until they actually line up. Live wagering
is a distinct possibility for this one.

Ryan to Julio Jones hung 134 yards and two TDs on them...this SF secondary can be had. Mason Rudolph threw 2 TDs against them too (76 and 39 yarders) and Pitts had a lead deep into the fourth quarter and were it not for the Conner fumble the Steelers well might have won that game. Pitts' D played great in that game...

I feel like guys are taking the 49ers defense lightly. They are fully healthy and haven’t give up anything in 2 playoff games. Packers scoring 20 points in the 2nd half was garbage points. Game was already decided in the first half 27-0

Mahomes' audibles well might be the difference in this one...excellent thread wiseguy36...peace_5

Thanks bud , I'm trying bring a little of my thought
process to this thread. My mention of Mahomes
freedom to improvise in my Post # 7 , I believe is
potentially a distinct advantage for KC.

Why not tell us this right off the bat? You are on KC but then make a thread saying you are not on anyone and this is an objective analysis?

Anyway, instead of theorizing about who will be more prepared why not do some research? The answers are out there:

I've done my research, and the purpose of this
thread is to provoke thought by bettors prior to
making a wager on this game , as the outcome is
not readily apparent. And , just like you, I am entitled
to have an opinion on the outcome.

The 49er testosterone is ramping up...their fandom are like the brown shirts in Germany in the 1930s. If we don't agree that the front 7 of SF is invulnerable then we must be punished or put in a work or death camp...KC's D is trash blah blah blah...uh ok...

Heute San Francisco, morgen die ganze welt!!! (Today San Francisco, tomorrow the whole world).

Hör auf zu denken und folge mir. Ich werde dich zu Meistern der Erde machen. uh, ok.....................
