I'll always be a cowboy fan and IMO if your a true fan you stick through the thick and thin...the most disheartening thing I heard which was the nail in the coffin was Jones not only keeping Wade on as head coach but giving him a vote of confidence...Garret is a novice and doesn't have the respect of his entire offense.
Anyone who doesn't think this is one of the most talented offenses in the game has got to be kidding themselves but on the other hand anyone who thinks this offense has any real brains or heart is kidding themselves as well...I was hoping Jones would excuse himself from GM duties and bring in Cower...I see that will not happen and this team will never win a playoff game under the direction of Jerry the GM and Wade the coach...the only hope this team has is to fire Garret and hire an experienced offensive coordinator...
I really wanted Jones to hire Singletary as the head coach a couple of years ago...fuck his experience he is a LEADER OF MEN...no one not even T.O. would have bucked him and survived to tell about it. Jerry does not want a strong coach that is a disciplinarian and leader because he still thinks he is the leader of this team.

First let me say that Im a Giants fan, so I naturally hate the Cowboys and love the fact Jones is ruining the franchise. But I want to say that I grew up as a Yankee fan as a kid, and then my dad had a friend who was the CEO of a hospital that worked for the Yankees, but not for long, because George Steinbrunner was too big an asshole an ego maniac. At that point, I took a step back and looked at how he ran the show, just buying players. I then decided to switch over to being a Mets fan and a Red Sox fan just because I hated Steinbrunner so much. I still respect true Yankees like Derek Jeter, but I couldnt support a team like that. I stopped liking them around 1997. ( I dont want people to think I jumped off right when they started losing, it was before).
My advice for you is become a Vikings fan, if you live in Minnesota, you've got Adrian Peterson, that alone is enough of a reason to become a fan. He is a player worth paying to watch.
Mikey, believe me becoming a Vikings fan has been suggested to me more than once. Being a Cowboys fan in Minnesota probably isnt as bad as being one in DC or Philly, but its close. You would not believe how unbelievably bitter Vikings fans are for how Johnson bent them over on the Walker trade.
I have nothing against the Vikings, but at this point its kind of like getting divorced. I can't fully jump on another teams bandwagon after stepping back from my own. I'm leaving the door open for Jerry if he cuts the bullshit and hires a real coach, but I'm not holding my breath.

You are exactly right about the Leader of Men part. Thats what this team needs. Thats what Johnson was, what Parcells was. Their players hated them but they fucking respected them. Respect is everything in a dynamic like this. The only chance a team can be successful without a head coach who lacks leadership is if the quarterback has it. Romo does not. I will go so far to say that Romo is a giant box. You can see it in his eyes, when hes getting beat up and things arent going right, he DOES NOT want to see the field.
There are very few real men on this team, in the football sense. WItten is one of them.

Well there isnt much in your post that I dont agree with. But thats the animal the game of football is. I too have followed my NYG for years and they havnt always had a good team. But none the less I still supported them when they were doing poorly and or didnt agree with play calling, or management descisions or whatever the front office was doing. But then came the good years when I really was proud of my team. What Im trying to say, is Jones is to Dallas what Steinbrenner is to the Yankees. Sometimes you just wished someone would bitch slap him and tell him to sit down, shut up, and let the coaching staff coach with out interference. I dont think Wade is a bad coach but I dont think he is a good one either. Middle of the road if you ask me, and I dont think he can handle and keep on top of the Dallas player personnel. Too soft if you ask me. I think you need a coach in Dallas like Tom Coughlin. You set standards and rules that control these high priced primadonnas and make them pay dearly if they dont conform and join the program. Bench them and Hit them in the wallet ,,You get rid of cancers like T.O. Personally he is too high priced, he does more harm than good, and causes desension among the team. He should have been told where the rubber meets the road when he signed to play for Dallas. These players get paid extraordinary money and we hold them up to a certain level of expectations. And those expectations are you put your personal agenda aside when you suit up and you play ball, and do whatever it takes to contribute to win.. Even if it means you dont get the ball thrown to you. T.O. Started his shit in Philly, in S.F. and now again in Dallas. Cmon, Im sorry but the guy is a cancer. Sorry it has to be that way, but you know the saying you give them a finger, and they take your whole arm. But thats a whole other topic for discussion. Hang in their Hans, and dont take it too hard. I hate Dallas personally only because I love the Giants so naturally I root against them for obvious reasons, but even though I dont like a team I still respect the level of play. Dallas is still salvageable, my advice is never throw out the baby with the bathwater. There problems can be fixed. The only thing is that you have to wait for next season. No disrepect meant its only my humble opinion.

I've said this before to you I think, but I respect the way the Giants play football much more than Dallas. I love tough defense and a smashmouth mentality. Thats what the great Cowboys teams were. I could never be a Giants fan, but if Jones hired Coughlin I would be ecstatic. He is precisely the kind of coach this team needs.

great writeup! you should submit to sports illustrated as an article. very well written. good insight on capping. amazing picks yesterday on oak and other other dogs. save chiefs. now i can see your capping instinct. but i'm visiting dallas right now. i live in malibu. we have no football team in l.a. as you know. i come to dallas often and i hate america's team. generally they're overrated. they suffer badly from jocko jones' micro management. he fucked up choosing TOtheCRACKHEAD over the TUNA. the real lesson here is: get rid of the personalities and back your management. cowgirls suck because jones is an idiot. he masterminded that last game with the ravens thinking his girls would blow out the ravens for their last game at texas stadium. well, that story got leaked out and the ravens came extra prepared to whoop cowgirl ass. you cant watch a fucking game in this town on sunday other than the cowboys. even if there's 10 flat panels in a bar, ALL TEN will be on the fucking cowboys and not one game on the other 9. the delusion of being america's great team trickles down from cowboys management to it's fans. i could have saved all of your words by just referring to two - jerry jones. sure he owned the team during the eras you mentioned. but he's getting worse. moving into a new expensive stadium being finished in irving texas, jerry lewis is desperate for a winning team. that team will always be a bunch of drama queens as long as jerry jones owns it. least i can get a drink this weekend without having to listen to these yahoos who live here.
Got lucky on some of those dogs, but appreciate it. I can see how it would be annoying to be in Dallas in football season if youre not a Cowboys fan. Maybe those TVs will be showing actual football games, or maybe old Cowboys highlights for nostalgia purposes.

i've been a steelers fan since they lost to dallas i was 10 years old at the time and sat through many brutal years of kordell stewart i even got an autographed picture of him for christmas which is worth about two cents now because last i saw he was punting in baltimore and prolly out of the leauge now but i will say the steelers problem for so many years was their lack of a quaterback which they finally got when big ben came to town and cowher the genius that he is (who dallas should hire if they had a clue) in bettis's last season won six in a row to make the playoffs and won all away games with many trick plays. But i totally agree with u jerry jones should stay behind the scenes and count the money and leave the coaching to the coaches and t.o. is passsed his prime he didn't even have a good year this year, he stops trying when he doesn't get his way and demands the ball when witten and mario barber are the ones who are trully selfless and carried that dallas team this year not t.o. why do u think philly got rid of him cause he hated mcnabb and did sit ups in front of andy reids parking spot and caused a media frenzy cause it's all about t.o and it's never his fault when he drops passes and his team looses and thats why philly plays them hard everytime they meet because they hate t.o. at least randy moss had a reason for not trying in oakland they had no qb and what did he do when he went to ne broke records and finally went to a superbowl something t.o's only been to once when he was with oh ya Philly. Btw philly rolls minni, then if they can beat the giants again watch out cause they have the talents to beat ne one of those other nfc teams

Its funny when teams spend so much money to 'BUY" talent and then they shit the bed. Cowboys must be killing themselves over the Roy Williams trade. 2 draft picks??? There are middle linebackers that can run faster than him.
I think that is worse than getting beat down by the Eagles yesterday. They ran into a hornets nest when Oakland beat Tampa.... They had no chance.
Finally, the demise of the Cowboys comes down to one player: TO
That guy has destroyed any chemistry they had and creates a virtual circus show week in and week out. GET Owens out and you will see improvement in the Cowboys.
you must be fucking crazy, the Yankees NEVER shit the bed with the exception of last year maybe. thay made the playoffs 13 years straight winning their division most years and when they didnt they made it despite the fact only one team makes besides division winners. we won a number of titles in those 13 years, the cowboys won 3. the core of our team is also players that we DRAFTED (Jeter, Rivera, Posada) i am so sick of Yankee haters who cry about the Yankees spending money to win, baseball is a fucking business like every other sport. the only difference is our owner is putting the money he makes back into the team and not in his already fat fucking pocket. do your research, most other teams in the league can buy the same talent we do they just dont wanna cut into their profits to do it, and lets not forget about the money we give back to those teams every year because of the luxery tax. do your research before you run your mouth next time

I feel the same way about the Yankees. I have officially jumped ship on them. They can win 120 games this year and sweep the playoffs, but I will never root for that organization again.

Great article, Hans.

If Jones fired Wade tomorrow, stepped down as GM, and hired an ass kicker like Cowher, I would be back on board.
Ah BigHans.... Poor Poor BigHans... Let me guide you back to the darkside...
I completely understand your frustration, as I am too a Cowboys fan.
BUT... and that is a BIG BUT... If the Cowboy's have been your team for most your life, then you know who and what they are. You can't change that now...What the hell is all this whining about? You have to take the good with the bad, come on man, you know this! No matter how long it takes bro!
Ok, Ok, you know what? Let's say that you are giving up being a Cowboys' fan...I will try and buy that... What are you going to do now? I guess you are going to change teams. How are you going to do this? Maybe throw all the names into a hat and then pick? I would suggest blindfolding yourself and then walking over to a map and placing your finger on it, then, take off your blindfold and the closest city to your finger can be your new team.
Point is, if you have been a Dallas fan for so long, then Dallas will always be your team...ALWAYS.
That is just who we are...
