Bill Simmons debated this with Chris Mullin (A member of the 92 dream team and Hall of Famer).

To keep it short, both agreed that the current all stars would be matchup nightmares (specifically Durant, Howard, LBJ) for the 92 squad and both believed that they would beat the 92 squad.

The problem with this debate is that athletes are getting bigger, faster, and stronger as generations go by. Like in the NFL, theres probably ten teams in the NFL today that would beat the 85 Bears. The 92 dream team is an absolutely amazing collection of legends but honestly maybe they would get beat, maybe they wouldn&#39;t. Its just hard to compare players of twenty years ago to today because of the way these athletes bodies are improving.

is this a joke? 92 All Stars would mop the floor with the current All Stars. Jordan, Pip, Clyde, and Bird >>> Kobe, LeBron, Wade, and Melo. Kobe would get worn out having to score agaist Pip and Jordan on the wings and would get physically assaulted in the paint. Melo would give up 30 alone to Pippen because we all know he cant play defense. Wade would not sniff the paint and be forced to make jumpshots which is his achilles heel. A more competitive game would be against the Dream Team III.

Dream Team wins, no doubt, those guys would be able to play with and better than any team ever put together. The currant all-stars couldn&#x27;t even carry their jock strap.

Dream Team wins easily.  They dominated their competition.  They played with an edge and they played extremely hard on both ends of the floor.  The 2008 Olympic had to have Kobe play a great 2nd half to win them the gold.  The Dream Team, regardless of who they played jumped all over them and then forced them into mistakes which allowed them to stretch the lead. Except for a few players, this new era of athletes doesn&#x27;t have the killer instinct or attitude to do this for 40 minutes.  You can say Stockton would be at a disadvantage at PG but he was a tough mother and he was a better shooter than Rose and Williams.  I am not so sure this would be a wash.  Plus he is a much better distributor then the new breed of PG which is a scorer.  As much as I hate to say it, LBJ would be the toughest matchup for the dream team but I think Pippen would make it tough.

First off the competition back then was much much easier and the intimidation factor was so big all they had to do was show up. The other players just wanted autographs. 92 would definitely win but I think because of offense not defense. Bird didnt play D but did everything else and could score on anyone. Kobe is a lockdown defender. I just think Robinson would give Dwight huge problems. 92 team was just too good. UNFORGETTABLE.
