What we learned this weekend...

1) Western Conference teams are money against the East (well, unless we're talking Dallas). I said this would be the case before the season, but it is more true now because of the playoff positioning and the battle for home court advantage in the West. I mean, when was the last time we saw the Clippers put together such a workmanlike road trip against the dregs of the NBA?!

The Warriors just need to win 2 more games to lock up home court through out the playoffs.  Here is how their schedule is looking. Bogut is really injury prone and after the Clippers and Suns games at home I doubt he plays for the rest of the regular season. They have a 3 game road trip against teams jocking for position or trying to make the playoffs I'm gonna fade them Kerr will probably be resting a bunch of players on that trip. I'm also gonna fade them hard on the last game of the season against Denver. All 5 starters should be out and the Nuggets still have a bad taste in their mouth over that playoff series and Iggy switching sides and they would love nothing more than to destroy them on their home court even if it's against their B team.

I've been trying to fade the warriors all season to no avail. Hoping tomorrow is there down fall ;). But I agree, you can pretty much chalk them up for a few loses before the end of the year. Already locked in Denver to beat them in the last game.

I think philly will still finish strong as well.

Alright, let's put our money where our mouth is and do a fun little parlay based on the arguments on this page. I left one slot open for Utah if Favors plays. It's a revenge game against the tanking Wolves for Utah.

Forgot to mention, $50 pays $325 if we add Utah ML. Only $200 without Utah. But I'm not settled on Utah, so I left it open. 

This is a very interesting Lakers Sixers game BB.

Both teams have tanked incessantly throughout the entire year and we are coming down the stretch with a H2H tonight.

The Sixers are one game up on the Lakers and if the Lakers win this game, after all the tie-breakers, and given how rarely teams at the bottom win, they lock up the 4th spot. If the Sixers lose, they can lock up the 3rd spot for all intents and purposes after tie-breakers.

But there is another layer here as you mentioned.

Orlando is really tanking hard so if Byron doesn't field his worst roster (they've pretty much put everyone on injured reserved that they could), the Lakers could actually jump to 5 if they win a few more too.

This is a MAJOR issue, as you know well, because if they get to the 5th worst record it is a virtual guarantee they will lose their draft pick as virtually every year, at least one team below 5 leapfrogs the pack.

The Lakers could really go on a run to secure their spot at 3 if they lost tonight and tie the Sixers in the win column (and then lose a bunch more to stay at 3 and virtually guarantee their pick).

But the Sixers have been winning a bit 3-4 in their last 7 which is outstanding for them.

Plus the Lakers already beat the Sixers recently which is probably why this line is at 4.5.

I just don't understand what the Lakers are doing if they win this game. But ultimately, when it comes to tanking, the players have the control so whatever the front office wants they don't always get.

The funny thing is, the Lakers have been playing hard enough of late to stay within a lot of spreads so losing isn't a problem but the spread is.

So the Sixers ML here solves that.

Let's just hope the Lakers players comply tonight. Just remember, the Sixers want to tank badly too and are masters at it, far better than the Lakers are.

What's the reason to assume or NOT assume that tonight's 76ers game being identical to the one played last week?

The Spurs would dismantle the Cavs if they began a series tomorrow.

Interesting.  I still think at some point you need to evaluate how the talent matches up against each other.  Angles are nice but unless it's painfully obvious a team isn't trying, the talent level is high enough in the NBA that most teams can compete.  That's how the NBA has improved. 

It's still stuck in neutral, however, when it comes to having enough teams compete for a championship.  It's only around 5 or 6 teams usually.  Also, sometimes players just don't show up for a night and try that hard.  Anyone who's watched sports long enough knows that's a fact.
