interesting take... what exactly would the Magic's reward be if they get past this series?
interesting take... what exactly would the Magic's reward be if they get past this series?
let's follow up on this retarded statement!
MrBator... the Magic, despite having lost homecourt advantage, are still currently favored to win their series against Boston (-130 / +110)... (odds taken from Bookmaker, but other books are similar)
however, futures odds have the Celtics at +1575 to win the title, while Orlando is +1775... the lines for winning the EC championship are similar, with the Celtics given a better chance than Orlando...
question is, why is Orlando favored to get past the Celtics, if the books think the Celtics have a better shot of going all the way?
i know the answer(s) to this question... do you? show us what you're about!

A spot in the Eastern conference finals, which would mean a lot to a franchise with no championships and no significant playoff runs since the days of Penny and Shaq.

Ice4Blood, you're seeing odds of +1575 for Boston and +1775 for Orlando. I'm seeing both teams at exactly +2500 at 5 Dimes and +2200 at ABC. At Bookmaker, Boston is +1650 while Orlando is +1750. The differences are miniscule, but that's besides the point. Futures odds reflect the liability that a book is carrying on each team, and not necessarily their opinion of which team will eventually win. That's what makes futures odds different from series odds. I'm surprised you don't know this.
Actually, I'm not.

nice job, Verra! you scored about 10 times higher than MrBator... how could someone NOT be smart enough to factor this into their answer?
as for Bator's "answer"... WOW! that's bad!
you pointed out that "futures odds" reflect the liability a book is carrying... and yet you couldn't put 1 and 1 together to realize THAT IS WHY ORLANDO IS STILL FAVORED IN THIS SERIES... fucking bozo!
the books think Boston is a better team, that is why they are considered better odds longterm... but the books are carrying liability on the Bos/Orl series that would make it too risky for them to turn Boston into a series favorite at this point...
way to bomb that little test, and get shown up bigtime by Verra!
awesome!

The Celtics have already stated publicly (about 100 times) that Kevin Garnett is done for the season. Anyone still factoring in his possible return is in denial.
Ice4HighBloodPressure, so are you one of those people? Still thinking KG might be coming out for warmups?

Right, the books think Boston is the better team. That's why they're 2-point favorites at home, while the Magic are 4.5-point favorites at home.

The Celtics have stated over and over and over that Kevin Garnett will not play again this season, but so many people just refuse to believe that it's true.

And even if he did (which he won't), he'd be rusty as hell. He wouldn't be much of a help in a short series when he's gasping for air after 5 minutes out on the floor. That doesn't matter, though, because he's not coming back.

wow! even after i explained it to you and even though it is backed by Vegas numbers, you still can't put it together... that's sick!
and regarding KG... you might want to check his actual injury status... he is not listed as "out for the season"... so... there's that little tidbit!
sorry Odds... i'm done here... Bator pisses all over people's threads, and i'm doing my best to expose him for the fraud that he is so that we can be rid of him once and for all...
good thread, though... GL!
