Okay, just got back from a 2-week vacation and settling back in and getting the hang of things that is sports. I haven't watched a lot of sports the past few weeks but i caught a few games of interest and this Toronto/Indiana match-up really intrigues me.
Mainly, im intrigued by the Raptors. Bosh's right-hand man Garbajosa will be out for awhile and sofar, the Raps have been winning. What's more impressive is that they've done it w/o their 2nd leading scorer, TJ Ford. It's nice to see Jamario Moon getting the minutes in place of Garbajosa. He seems to mesh well with Bosh and holds his own on the defensive board.
Now, this match-up presents some problems for Indiana. Gone are the days of the Pacers' half-court offense and so goes their defense all the same. New scheme, new coaching style; which is, take the first best shot available. Bad news for the Pacers is that, not many teams can run'n'gun on the Raptors. Another bad thing for the Pacers is that they are the best in the league at sending opponents to the free-throw line. Raps excel at getting there and Bosh will make the Pacers pay at the line. The Pacers are also one of the worst zone defense teams, defending the perimeter. Toronto, with the addition of Jason Kapono, now have 2 deadly trey-shooters on the floor; that other guy is Anthony Parker.
Statisically, the Pacers are the better rebounders. But i see this match-up at about dead-even under the boards.
The key to beating the Pacers is who and how the Raptors defend 3 of Indiana's hottest shooters. Chicago made the mistake of manning-up Ben Gordon on Mike Dunleavy. Neither could defend eachother, for that matter, for that game. Kirk Hinrich on Indiana's point-man wasn't exactly a brilliant match-up either. I'd like to think that Anthony Parker, Calderon, and Delfino are better perimeter defenders. Indiana put up less shots than Chicago, but they score mored because they made over 53% of their field-goals. Don't expect Indiana to get that kind of production tonight. Granger and O'neil, on their good day, are also hard to defend. Good match-up on 'em with Bosh and Moon on the inside, i presume.
That's my take on the game. Anyone think Indiana runs away with this one?
I'll take the Raps +3.

The Bulls were a hot play in Indy a couple days ago and then Indy destroyed them. I think everyone thinks indy will do the same (since there is a similar line)
I like the Raps too!

Although I'm a Pacer fan, I agree with you on this one. The Pacers could run with this one in the end, but generally it should be a close game (no double digit leads) and with that I like +3. Calderon is money 10 dimes a night...
Toronto +3 (1 unit)

Indiana wins here. Indy lost 2 weeks ago at T.O. after a strong 4th home surge. Bosh is back, and Toronto has been playing better, but Ford contains Tinsley, now he wont be there. Indy is healthier than last game, and they can score in bunches now.
Murphy mite be suspended tonite, but even if he is, Indy rolls at home.
106-96 Indy

In a very odd scheduling move, the NBA has Toronto playing a road game in between 2 Home games, before traveling out West for a long Western Conference road trip. This sets up to be a huge letdown/look ahead situation for Toronto tonight. It would have been nice for the NBA to set Toronto up with Indiana as their first road game of that trip. However then I wouldn't have anything to play. First, the Raptors are off a huge home win vs Dallas the other night. Next up for the Raptors will be a home showdown against the Celtics who they just lost to by 28 points. I can promise you that they are looking ahead to revenge there. I feel as it is a mistake to look past Indiana right now however, especially at home. They are 5-6 straight up and ats at home this year but already have quality wins against Dallas, Chicago, and Utah. They also played very well against Phoenix in a losing effort. We also have sort of a double revenge situation here as Indiana remembers the loss Toronto gave them 1 month ago. I expect the Pacers red hot shooting to surprise the Raptors a bit tonight, and without TJ Ford leading the offense, I doubt Chris Bosh can carry the Raptors by himself and can keep pace tonight. Indiana wins 108-99

Glad you watch the raptors...if you did youd know calderon is just as good as ford. Toronto has the deepest bench in many peoples opinions in the conference. Sam mitchelle didnt win coach of the year last year for nothing....He keeps his team foccused on the task at hand not the task ahead. We barely lost to Phoenix in a shoot out without bosh..Not saying we win for sure tonight...just arguing your points why we dont.

Actually I feel the raps tend to score more with cady playing than with ford. Ford seems to dribble too much, well cady is very effective with the ball. Cady also likes to push up the tempo as well.
