BTW, the Clippers idea is not nearly as outlandish as it sounds. Almost everything that I said about the Knicks would also apply to the Clippers. I think there might actually be some appeal in taking a bad franchise and turning it into a champion. Kobe will ultimately be remembered as just one more guy in a string of great Lakers. If LeBron brings a championship to the Clippers, he would become the founding saint of a franchise. He'd almost be like Babe Ruth. There have been far better Yankees than Ruth, but none of them will ever have Ruth's status.
As far as "sharing LA" goes... hogwash. They won't be sharing it. They will be competing for it. They'll instantly turn LA into the only place that really matters in pro basketball. A nice parallel is college basketball. This year notwithstanding, there is no doubt that Duke and Carolina are two of the best franchises in college basketball. Do you think either of them is harmed in any way that they have to "share" metro Raleigh with their biggest rival? Hell, no. The geographic proximity only enhances the rivalry. The rivalry only helps the cachet of both teams.
I'm glad someone else has the sense to see it.

Cavs have better management, owner who shells out money and wants to win, best practice facility in league, close to LeBron's new mansion, and a Chinese minority owner who provides limitless endorsement opportunities. That's why they're the favs.

That's exactly why I have them #2.

The 3 teams I listed are the ONLY 3 teams that have a chance.
So what if LeBron loves Madison Square Garden.
I love Las Vegas too. And going 3 times a year is great. But if I went 41 times a year it would wear off before long.
THE KNICKS AND NETS ARE DOGSHIT.
He's 90% likely to stay in Cleveland. Plain and fucking simple.
WOW!!!!
after all of this shit, and especially after the argument i made which completely shoots the shit out of what you are arguing, you are STILL sticking to your argument?
you're dumb, dude! get help......

i have already told you how this will go down, and it is the bottom (irrefutable, and pointless to try) line........
whichever guy signs first, that will be the primary target for the other guys (Lebron, Wade, Bosh)........
capiche!?

AND...... if neither of the other two sign with the first guy....... they absolutely WILL (i guarantee this is 100% certain) sign with each other.......
it is as simple as that...... it is a 100% sure thing that it will play out that way, and therefore your argument is completely 0% valid, because it does not play any role in this situation.......
1) don't make stupid threads..... but more importantly.....
2) don't keep arguing your stupid point after it has been absolutely ripped to shreds!

Let me let you in on something... All owners want to win. They are all willing to shell out money.
Best practice facility.....
Are you fucking kidding me? What are the rims made of gold? Do they have a concierge to pour the shampoo for you in the shower?
Name one thing that the Cavs practice facility has that the others don't. All the NBA facilities are good and for all intents and purposes alike. They have weights. They have cardio. They have baskets and balls. I seriously doubt anybody can tell the difference.
"A Chinese majority owner who provides limitless endorsement opportunities"
So a Chinese car company wants to sign LeBron to a million dollar endorsement contract, but they can't do a deal with the Knicks because the Knicks are owned by an American. Ummmm, are you serious?!?!?
If somebody wants to sign him to a deal, they'll sign him. Do you really think that company's endorsement negotiators give a shit who the owner is?

i am an idiot for bashing wade bc he has realed off a nice stretch of games and tonight played one of his best games tonight, especially down the stretch after an awful first half.
the chinese influence more involves the market of people than it does opening up contract opportunities. he isnt going to pull "mr. Baseball" style advertising deals. but he sure is hell will beat yao mings jersey sales over there real fast (maybe not beat but will be clear cut 2nd).
and the practice facility is just that, a FACILITY. not just the court. i honestly dont know the ins and outs of it, but it is constantly regarded by the players and the media as the best in the league, so i will take the players word on that.
i understand the points in favor of the clippers, i just dont see him being a 'west coast' guy. i know it sounds cliche, but he doesnt spend much time out there but does hang more on road trips in NY/NJ area.

I just read the last page here so sorry if I missed any new news but doesn't the # change pretty much guarantee he's staying in Cleveland?
I used to think the Knicks simply for the marketing aspect but after the other day I think it's pretty clear he's staying home.
i think its no new news. it just means he can have the number 6 if he stays, but can have 6 if he signs with another. the NBA doesnt even have to approve it, though they have no reason not too and they will make a shit pot of $$$ off the jersey sales when everyone buys his new jersey next year, whether its cleveland or any other team.

Some of you guys can keep bashing my reasoning but you will soon find out that I am the authority on this topic.
no, we will definitely not find that out........ i guarantee i will be bumping this thread to bash the hell out of you when he ends up somewhere else....... the only possible team of the ones you mentioned is Cleveland, but that is not even close to a bold prediction......
your prediction is well-established........ so is mine......... what i said will happen, is EXACTLY what will happen, and i will be back to shove it in your face when it does.......

I have no doubt that its a great facility. It probably has everything you could ask for in a facility. Out of curiousity, I googled "Knicks practice facility" and I got a New York Times article about their facility which was described as state of the art, built in 2002, etc. etc. Its probably a great facility as well. I just don't see how this could make a difference.
I've never heard of a player (in any sport) signing with one team over another because of the practice facility. Does anyone have an example of this?
"Detract all you want but when he signs a new contract in July it will be with 1 of the 3 teams I have listed. GUARANTEED."
Those teams definitely have a shot. I'm not saying he is going to the Knicks or Nets guaranteed. But to say they don't have a shot is kind of ridiculous. They have a very good shot.

agreed, BUT if i were in the NFL i would not sign in bungel land since they are the only 'cold weather' team that does NOT have an indoor practice facility

seriously dude... what fucking reason would he have to play for the clippers? with his ego do you really see him playing for team that isnt even the best in their stadium? if htey moved the clippers it might make sense, but not as long as there playing in staples center (and im actually from la so id like to see him play here a little more). and also why would he want anything to do with sterling, that guy proves yera after year hes not willing to spend the money it takes to win. imo the nets have a wayyyyyyyyyyy better chance of landing bronbron then la's ugly step child (aka clippers)

Clips do have some money to work with. They do have a nice young core of Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Blake Griffin, and perhaps
In all honesty, what LeBron does here will say a heck of a lot to what he wants in the future. I see the following options: 1. Go to the best possible team. (also where he is comfortable) 2. Go to the biggest stage with marketing/endorsement deals. I don't really see this mattering to him...because he's such a big name already. 3. Wild card: Does he think he can go to a rebuilding team and turn them into a contender by himself? I don't think so. I don't think his ego is that big.
The Knicks have NO shot at LeBron if they cannot sign another FA to pair with him. They simply must sign another maximum salary player. But the thing is...they can do that. They have over 33 million of cap room with max salaries at around 15-16 mil. this year. That would leave the rest of the team VERY thin, though, and their current young base that is going to be there next year (Douglas, W. Chandler, Gallinari, and Curry's contract) isn't top-tier.
The really interesting thing here is that unlike baseball or even football, there is a maximum contract that any team can offer LeBron. So it's truly about where he feels the most comfortable and probably where he thinks he can win.
Don't rule out the Bulls. They have a solid young base. Noah is exactly the banger who can complement LeBron by rebounding and playing tough D without being an offensive focal point. Rose is a tremendous ball handler and a potential top PG. Hinrich is a good perimeter shooter, a la Parker, Mo Williams, etc. They could certainly use another big man complement, since Luol Deng is more of a perimeter player. The question is..do the Bulls opt to sign D-Wade? Wade is a Chicago native and could certainly be attracted to the situation. And it's definitely a feel good story. But if LeBron wants a contender who has cap space, Chicago could certainly be an option.
The question really becomes if LeBron feels loyalty to Cleveland...enough to stay with the team. He could...or he might believe that a different team offers a better chance for him to win. The Cavs have added interesting, some high profile complements for LeBron, but he doesn't have a true #2 option who can help him, like Pippen, as stated earlier in the thread. I'm honestly befuddled by the number of combo PGs they've added. Basically their entire team is LeBron, perimeter shooters, and mediocre inside players. Mo Williams, Delonte West, and Booby Gibson are very similar type players and Anthony Parker doesn't add much that is different, either. They truly desperately need another player who can take over the game when needed.

For the record, I also believe LeBron stays in Cleveland, but his desire to win could certainly push him to another team that has a seemingly superior nucleus.

all that "boo" in game 5 at HOME against the celtics made the decision extremly easy. when you change a team from 16-66 to 66-16 ALL BY YOURSELF and those mugs "boo" you, you just wanna leave the place and make another team a winning one.
2 years ago he said "i need team-mates"..jamison and o'neal were added...STOP. WTF???jamison and old grandpa o'neal???
no one can help james to win ONE title in cleveland, forget about kobe's 4. So, in order to be at the same level with MJ and Kobe, he has to win rings. 7 (SEVEN) years without a title are way too much for a player like James.
I have no idea where he will go. But i'm sure that he will leave. Why should he stay? for what?
WOW, he built a mansion like vegasveterean said WOOOWW...that's why he will stay right? cause he will be sorry for the mansion
F**K the mansion, he want's rings. And in cleveland it is imposible. IN OHIO IS IMPOSIBLE. FACT!

Well my original post was on Jan 10 and my top 3 in order doesn't change.
The Nets and Knicks are a laughable option. NO CHANCE.
The Bulls don't crack the Top 3. LeBron has tremendous respect for the Cavs owner, Cleveland fans, and a lot of people associated with the team. He will not go to a division rival and alienate the above people.
