The Cleveland Cavaliers appear to have beaten the NBA's annual trade buzzer to get LeBron James some of the fresh help he's been openly craving.
In a three-way, 11-player trade with Chicago and Seattle that has been submitted for league approval, NBA front-office sources say that Cleveland will come away with four new teammates for James, headlined by Ben Wallace from the Bulls and sharpshooter Wally Szczerbiak from the Sonics.
The league office was notified of the deal before Thursday's 3 p.m. ET trading deadline, sources said, and is currently reviewing the trade details as required for formal approval.
After Cleveland watched two longstanding trade targets land elsewhere -- Mike Bibby in Atlanta and Jason Kidd in Dallas -- sources say that the deal calls for the Cavaliers to receive Wallace, Szczerbiak, Seattle point guard Delonte West, Chicago's Joe Smith and a future second-round pick from the Bulls.
The Bulls, apparently abandoning their gamble on Wallace less than two seasons into the lucrative four-year deal they used to sign him away from Detroit, would get Cavaliers forward Drew Gooden and swingman Larry Hughes along with Cavs reserves Cedric Simmons and Shannon Brown.
The Sonics, shedding Szczerbiak in the name of additional payroll flexibility, come away with the expiring contracts of Cleveland's Ira Newble and Chicago's Adrian Griffin as well as Cavs veteran Donyell Marshall.
Are you serious? Delonte West is a 6'4" COMBO guard, think Billups or Kenny Anderson, he can guard a PG or SG. Look what he did just last year and 2 years ago in Boston, he was solid and can run the point and most important play defense.
Wally doesn't play D, we know this, but we got him to stretch the floor which he can do b/c he shoots at a higher percentage than Hughes. Sasha and Boobie can buckle down on D when D is needed and we can send Wally World back on the bench when D is needed in tight games.
Joe Smith plays defense and is a great rebounder and shows up every nite unlike Gooden. He's a consumate professional and will only help this team.
We didn't get Ben for scoring, we got him for a defensive presence, one we don't have down on the block with Z. You say Ferry made a bad move getting him, well owner Dan Gilbert obviously doesn't care about paying the luxury tax for him.
Such a great move and all in all, 24 million in expiring contracts at the end of this season 
Ben Wallace went to Chicago for the money man and that was it once they told him he can not wear a headband that was it he lost all faith and just wanted a paycheck and did not have the motivation. West is not all that small. Hughes is a good defender(will not argue that). The D is better overall they the presence of a shot blocker that will block it or alter the shot and will rebound the ball in Wallace. Think about it man Z, Wallace, Anderson on the floor at the same time who the hell is going to out rebound that...no one only thing it hurts is LBJ's rebounding average. Smith can score 10 pts a game just like gooden except smith can do it off the bench. Wally is the shooter this team could really use...also west is no slouch man he can play D too. This will create more shots for Z(outside 12-15 footer that he is clutch on) and more time for the ball to be in the hands of LBJ and he will be driving to the hole more in hopes the D collapses and he can kick it out to Z, Gibson and now Wally come on bro with Anderson and wallace crashing the boards to get offensive boards

First off you comparing West to Chauncey is laughable playing with a bunch of scrubs besides Pierce doesn't prove anything. West didnt play D at St.Joes or in boston we must have been watching different games.

Boobie and sasha are two of our worest defenders so your theory doesnt work there. i agree he stretches the floor no doubt but he cant create his own shot he's not that deadly of a shooter if they wanted another shooter shoulda made a deal with Memphis
