Sterling Bashers!

Sterling was engaged in a lovers’ tiff stemming from his jealous reaction to Ms. Stiviano’s statement that she was going to “bring four gorgeous black guys to the game.”

Mr.Sterling did not deny that the words he uttered were “stupid, foolish, [and] uneducated.” (But he also said—in a portion of the interview far less quoted in the media—that when “you get upset you say things.” (Id.) It is beyond dispute to anyone who actually listened to the recording (and not just read the transcript) that Mr. Sterling was distraught—indeed, in tears—during the conversation. While this of course does not justify what Mr. Sterling said, it should be a mitigating factor because everyone has uttered words in the heat of an argument they later regretted; this is part of being human. Mr. Sterling has admitted that he was jealous, and Ms.Stiviano was aware of her position in relation to Mr. Sterling, telling him “And you’re in love with me.”

It is also apparent that Ms. Stiviano baited Mr. Sterling—in this distressed and vulnerablestate—into saying many of these hurtful comments. Throughout the argument, Mr. Sterling tried to end the conversation, but Ms. Stiviano continued to try and elicit responses from him. Ms. Stiviano’s persistent instigating continued when Mr. Sterling said that he was not a racist. When Ms. Stiviano first asked Mr. Sterling: “What’s wrong with minorities? What’s wrong with black people?,” Mr. Sterling replied, “Nothing. Nothing.”

The following passage is particularly illustrative:

Ms. Stiviano: I don’t understand how you can have so much hate towards minorities.

Ms. Stiviano: I can’t believe that a man who’s educated, a man who’s a scholar, a man...

to a Clippers executive, she perceives this all as a game: “LET THE GAMES BEGAN. . . .”

IF YOU ALL THINK STERLING REPLY TO HER ABOUT NOT BRINGING BLACK GUYS TO THE GAME WAS IN ANY FORM SOME KIND OF RACIAL DENEGRATION or DISCRIMINATION  YOU ARE ALL FOOLS!

D: I don't want you bringing black guys to my games."  (Natural emotional response. He really only wanted her to himself, he was jealous and could care less about their color. She kept bring the work black and minorities up.)

Can any person that is a minority really say they are offended by Donald's remarks in this situation?

Sterling is going to come out of this owning the CLippers. This smoke screen of transfer ownership to wife is just to allow the nba to save face now and wipe the egg of their face. The nba has buried itself by getting involved in what most amounts to be a civil matter. Sterling could have been drunk, enraged, irate, etc etc when he uttered those words and like hos lawyer said, there is not a court in U.S. that will rip ownership away from him with the draconian nba rules.

As the longest-tenured owners in the NBA, the Sterlings have employed five African American coaches, scores of African American players, an African American general manager who held that job for 22 years, and staff who helped the NBA receive a laudable “A+” in racial hiring practices. Indeed, Mr. Sterling recently terminated a Caucasian head coach and traded for anAfrican American head coach who is now among the most highly paid and respected in the league.   Sounds like a racist to me!!!

If the black guys don't want to play for Sterling, they can go get $10 hr janitor jobs. F' em.

It is virtually inconceivable that Article II was intended to regulate a private lovers’ quarrel. This is apparent from the article’s language. Mr. Sterling was not “conducting” the “sport of professional basketball” when he was arguing with Ms. Stiviano in her living room. Under the Commissioner’s interpretation of Article II, any immoral or unethical comment—even a private one—could become the basis for a forced termination.

In fact, the only permanent bans ofrecord—other than the ban the Commissioner currently requests—involve gambling violationsand repeated violations of the NBA’s substance-abuse policy. And further, as far as Mr. Sterling is aware, no one in the NBA has ever been punished for speaking in a private constitutionally protected setting. In view of these facts, the Commissioner’s request to compel Mr. Sterling to sell the Los Angeles Clippers is internally inconsistent with prior punishments, is discriminatory, and is arbitrary and capricious.
