I'm in agreement with those who say NBA games are not fixed, but there is definitely some sort of scripting going on when it comes to some high profile events. Blake Griffin had this thing gift wrapped, all he had to do was not fuck it up. Once I saw DeRozen's first dunk get a 44, I knew something is up. Off the side of the backboard and then through the legs, and you only get a 44??? When Ibaka took off from the FT line, the most legit take off from the FT line dunk ever seen in an NBA dunk contest and only gets a 45??? That almost guaranteed the first 2 guys were not moving on next round. If you don't think there is any scripting? Then it would be hard to explain, getting a choir in the next round. And to top the whole enchilada off, an mediocore dunk over the sponsor car. NBA where the WWE happens.

Of course it was fixed. It's fixed every year because of the way the final round voting has been changed.
Blake went last, so by default the judges lowered the scores of Ibaka and Derozen in anticipation of Blake's dunk but couldn't do so with McGee (50) because that was flat-out ridiculous.
Then in the finals,
THE FAN VOTING STARTS BEFORE ANY DUNKS ARE PERFORMED!
The fan voting is farce as none of us here who really care and have $ on it would actually vote by text.
But to start the voting before anyone dunks is unconscionable. It's like voting for an American Idol winner before they broadcast the show!

Guys let's stop this.

This contest was an absolute joke. Probably the last year I watch it.
Derozan had the ball bounced off of the neck of the stand, then put it through his legs for the dunk. Griffin had the ball bounced off of the side of the backboard and slammed it home, yet he got a higher score than Derozan. Derozan's second dunk was the best in the contest hands down.
All this prop crap is exactly that, crap. Jump over a KIA? Wow, width wise not length wise. Choir? Little kid? Stuffed animal?
The NBA is turning into a circus.

Pure dunk without props (no cars or double backboards or help), Derozen's dunk may be in the top 8 of ALL-TIME, nevermind, best of the night.

Of course it is. Griffin/Kenny Smith had the whole set up with the Car ready to go, you think the NBA wouldn't of let that happen? He would have gotten out of the first round if he dunked a girls ball on a 5 foot basket. Easy bet.

Scalabrine I agree 100%. Thinking of how corny that whole car and teddy bear dunks were. Derozan's 2nd dunk was something mj or dominique woulda have done back in the day.

McGee's last dunk sucked. No way he can steal the constest with that dunk, even though the first three dunks were good. He should have done his first dunk last. Griffin is an explosive dunker and even if the contest was fixed he still deserved to win.
The NBA has been hyping him all season and he is in his home arena. Griffin might have lost to a small guy doing big dunks, but not to some 7 footer, and the NBA put him up against 2 7 footers.
Couldn't have said it better - McGee should've done his two-handed, two-hoop dunk for the finale. That being said though, no matter what McGee did, he didn't stand a chance against Griffin. Of COURSE the dunk contest is rigged, but I still didn't want to take my chances at -300+. Not worth it.
I still think McGee should've won based on the final dunks, his reverse-windmill thing where he almost hit his head on the backboard was amazing, while the stupid Kia-jump was obviously a gimmick. But of course BG was supposed to win, no matter what people "voted". And the 360 dunk was nice, so I'm not complaining. What annoyed me much more was watching Ray Allen only get 15 points on the final round of the 3-point contest. I'm sure he could've done better but he already holds the record for 3 pointers so he figured he would step down and give someone else a chance to shine.

Who is to say that the judges didn't have money on a certain dunk-competitor?
If even ONE judge had money on a certain player, then it rigs EVERY player's chances to win.
Easy. You guys act like these judges have no need for money...they are just as money starved as every other person on that court....anyone would attempt to make a quick 5 thousand bucks if they know they can tweak the scores a bit.

Anyone else think the prop dunks are as dumb as I do? Sure, dunking over a car and dunking on two hoops at once are cool...but do they really prove you are a good dunker? I mean last I checked neither of those ever happen in a game so who cares...
I liked the Nate Robinson dunking over Spike Lee because that can actually happen in a game, but bringing in a car..give me a break, they might as well do away with the whole competition if these players are going to be so uncreative. Just my opinion of course, bring in the Globe trotters to teach them some creativity!!!
and Kenny Smith, what a POS!!! speaking of uncreative, how many consecutive years can that ahole say the same damn lines during the dunk contest...just comes of as dumb and terrible terrible broadcasting, how does tnt not tell him to shut the hell up by now, disgraceful, is there really anyone out there that likes that guy? if you do, i hate you lol. ok i'm done ranting. IT'S OVER!!! ITS OVER!!

Everyone who bets on the contest should have had the foresight to see that it was gonna be Blake Griffins contest to lose. Have none of you watched this contest before?
