Compared to college football which is an absolute pleasure to watch, the NBA is a disgrace in terms of viewing.
And the Knicks look worse than ever. My god. I was squirming through all 4 quarters. Not jumping ship after one game but my god, show the Cavs up for more than the first 3 minutes!
It's one game but seemed like a lot of the same old on offense, Melo dribbling everyone else standing still. Cant see how Noah plays entire year and if I am Knicks fan I hold my breathe every time Rose drives to basket.
Don’t tell me the law. Tell me the judge.

you still the man scal I would tail you with my last dollar keep them coming
Lol. Thanks Risk.Arx, I just want to clarify, I will always post here. It's just the problem I have with the NBA. The margins of error are far too thin to be profitable long-term.I scrape by by the hair on my chin in the Thunder game in the absolute final second and in this game the Lakers just took control and ran with it in the 4th 30-18. The Nets can score 18 in a quarter. Don't die on me at the absolute most crucial moment. Then the Warriors loss by thirty. 30!! I mean 3 is ok. But 30! Didn't even bet it but marveled at the inepetitude AT HOME! The league is for lunatic bettors. Scaling back my picks in the NBA. Too much bankroll to give back after earning it through CFB /NFL. I can't say it enough: you don't know when these guys will play 4 quarters or even show up for one of the 4 or worst of all, take off a quarter and blow up the game. See the Celtics and Rockets tonight. It's a joke. Not complaining about the loss but the quality of the competitiveness where angles matter little. You are subject to the mercy of their whims. Play now? play later? Who knows when they'll show up?
This is why I put most of my money on futures when betting NBA. I think it's much easier to try and cap a team for the season compared to an individual game

Exactly you don't need this no hustle trash. You don't get that with UCF. You don't get that with Temple. Please. This is a joke. Ruined the night. Lakers taken it down outright. That's enough of a message right there.
Scal, I completely agree. I think basketball is kinda a crap shoot in general, but NBA in particular is ridiculous. I'm always amazed at how less reliable it is than football, probably because of the potential for ridiculous garbage time and the whole intentional foul game at the end.
The fouling at the end bombs any number. Tie game 30 seconds with a 24 second shot clock? Don't worry, your team can win or lose by 6! That's why teasing is so meaningless in the NBA.

Forget what's on the court (which is horrendous). How about Phil watching the NBA evolve into small ball 3 pt shooting teams who have constant motion offense and he still wants to run the Triangle circa 2000 Lakers and 96 Bulls.
And he hires Hornacek to do it. Huh?
If I am a free agent with choices, I don't sign in NYC until Phil's contract is up.

I agree in principle.
In reality, I can't wait until May to get paid on a team total and June to get championship payments. That is a lifetime away. Football futures? Ok. 4 months. Not EIGHT months.

Scal, shake it off and on to the next sir. Awesome record you have there.
Forget it. I don't even want to watch the game right now. So sick. Can't go 1-1 right out of the gate (and only get the one win because I was in on the game TWO months ago!).
Should have been fading Kidd and the Bucks who have Dellavadova starting. Nope! I gotta put my CFB winning on the Beard and the rest of his circus.

Scal, the NBA is a different beast. Was watching the sixers/okc game and only with about 6 minutes left in the game did OKC start giving a crap. Westbrook's body language was different, he was yelling at guys, would get upset at the smallest thing because he knew it was "crunch time" and the team's intensity was different (especially on defense): it was like they went from coasting to caring all of a sudden. And the poor, young sixers were like helpless babes cause they did not have another gear. Now, does this resemble any of the other major sports?
Do pitchers coast for 5 innings (throwing mediocre stuff) only to turn it on in the 6th 7th or 8th? Do football teams play mediocre defense for three quarters only to become all-world defenses at the end of a game? I don't think so. That's why the NBA is hard to cap. And if some guy on the sixers had gotten hot in the end, it would not have mattered how hard OKC had suddenly decided to play.

Thanks for the 411 BB. I was so disgusted by what you just described I had to turn the game off.
So I wouldn't know.
Do you know how many college football games I turned off this year? Zero. Did anyone see SMU beat Houston? You see those SMU kids flying up and down their field up 28-7? Excited. Hooting. Hollering. Hugging. The Houston Cougars (contrary to what the Houston rockets showed last night) WERE trying to get back in the game against an inferior team and couldn't. If I bet Houston -22.5, I'm not angry! I take the loss and move onto the next game.
But if my team shows what OKC showed for 3.5 quarters and 4 Q's in LA, I am flying off my rocker like a cocaine crazed grandpa off his meds. I can't tolerate it. I can't watch it and I can't bet on it. You can't even TEASE teams in the NBA. You have an EIGHT point tease with the Warriors and you STILL fall 30.5 point outside the number. Are you fu**ing kidding me? Do you know how valuable a tease is on a home dog vs. a division/conference foe in the NFL/CFB? It's almost like you can chalk up the win before kickoff! OKC goes down 12-2 with Oladipo shooting like the basket has a lid on it.
In the NBA? 6/8pt teasers are fluff. TEASERS! Adjusting the spread by 8 and it doesn't matter at all! Who needs this shi* BB!

Hell I might quit gambling too if basketball was my primary sport of interest. It's deadly.
Look at the Knicks. This is a disgrace. A competitive Knicks team with medium sized spread for them (6-7) is the best bet. Im not interest in laying double digits against a terrible Knicks team and they show up and take them with those spread and they lay down which is what's going to happen this year.
I still have no idea how the Knicks beat Cleveland in Game 1 of Lebron's return to the Cavs as 12.5 pt dogs. That may be the most confounding cover I've ever seen. That team was so awful they tore it apart. It was so bad most of those Knicks are ON the Cavs. And if you teased the Cavs with a whopping EIGHT pointer (which would cost you out the as*) you LOSE outright! Whaaaat!?! That's the NBA folks. That's why Doneghy till this day exposes their corruption!

Lets not forget the mavs game last night they were giving 100% effort however how do you just fall flat in OT and then lose by 7/8 and not cover what a moose

A lot of people probably remember that return to Cleveland. They may have been saying to themselves, "I'm not taking the Cavs again in game 1 of the season against the Knicks again! I learned my lesson in Lebron's return Gabe! I'm going to make the sharp play and take the Knicks plus a generous 9.5 and fade the public. Fool me once..."
Oh you learned your lesson buddy. You got you as* handed to you not once but TWICE. You only fell outside the number by a meager 19.5 points AFTER the spread...the NBA. Please.

Anyone ever play a 7-8-9-10-11!!! Yes 11 team Teaser and get to the last game and a team that should LAY DOWN on the court decides to play the most inspired game of the year??
I've done that.
I did it with the Timberwolves in Rick Adelman's last game 2 years ago, the T-Wolves looking to get to .500 (significant for them) vs. a Jazz team that was tanking for half a season and needed to tank one more game to move up a lottery spot.
So I take the T-Wolves down from -11 to -6 and I'm sitting pretty below a key number of 7.
Did I cover? Of course not! The jazz won outright in Minny on Rick Adelman night, ruining their draft slot, in double OT. DOUBLE OT. Yup. Tank an entire half a season but let's fight to the finish in game 82 and F Joe Bettor over. And I'm LAYING 6 in that game. Remember that game BB? What a gem...11 team progressive tease over 2 weeks of work. Poof! Gone like a fart in the wind.

Sal, why did you mention that game against the Jazz? I lost so much on that game. I think it was like a $2,500 tease, and that was the only game that did not hit. Tyrone Corbin! I will go to my grave cursing that man:) He wanted to screw the management that night cause he knew he was being fired after tanking for them.

Also, as an FYI. See if you can find footage of that last foul the sixers gave to OKC (the one that got you the cover). They trapped Oladipo but did not wan to foul him (for some reason). Both guys had their arms up (like they did not want to foul but only trap the player) and when the foul was called the sixers player was very upset. He was arguing with the ref about the foul. Very strange.

BB, I took that game hard too! Not as hard as you but hard enough. Taught me a valuable lesson about capping a tank.
And you don't have accentuat something nefarious with a foul at the end of the game where it was near impossible to make up a 4 pt deficit! I watched Kings/Lakers Game 6 with my own eyes. A game I'll never forget. I'm already on board with that line of thinking!
Tyrone Corbin. He has his feet up and a pina coloda in his hand somewhere. He knows what he did to us. He probably still savors what he did to Jazz management!.

honestly it just sounds like your bad at capping nba and making excuses to make yourself believe it's an impossible sport to profit on. good luck with your football plays seems to be more up your alley.

Really tough to cap a game where most of the time 3 quarters and half of the game don't matter for betting purposes and you decide everything in a crapshoot the last 3 minutes. How many times you have a 7.5 underdog who's winning the whole game and in the last minutes they are tied and suddenly they are down in the last minute and comes the fouling time and the line is done even though you know you capped the game well? And like you said teasers are worthless, 6 points in football games are a lot, 6 points in basketball games are scored in a minute. when football or baseball you know that you're winning late in the game and the offense has the ball or your team is batting, you have control, in Basketball you don't, you can't control a clock except eating some second from the shot clock.

It's the nature of the game.

Actually I learned to cap through betting the NBA. I've been betting and capping the NBA since the 4th grade (however remedial).
That is why CFB and the NFL are so much easier to me than this sport.
I know what this sport is capable of and what it does to bankrolls. And if it wasn't for this sport I wouldn't be half the capper I am.
