Dude there was 1.0 seconds left when they inbounded the ball.  There was no chance that there would be any time left.  Think about it again.

The ONLY chance,  if it is any, is to draw contact while shooting a 3.

Rough luck man.... nothing good usually happens the last minute or two of NBA games. All I want is for the time to melt off the clock as quickly as possible.

As far as taking a layup and not even attempting a 3-pointer in hopes of getting fouled.... complete bullshit in my mind and many others

BTW, anyone look at Tim Donaghy on Facebook?  He's commented on this game.

"Did anyone see the end of the Bulls-Nuggets game last night...seems very fishy not to take a 3-pointer and hope to draw a foul when trailing by 4 but instead throw the ball inside for a layup with 1 second left (and no prayer of tying the game) that covers the 2.5-point spread at 94-92. Seems like someone needed a two point basket..."

What i dont get is why is it fucked up if its fixed? We all know EVERY sports is heavily bet and fixing happens. Its basically part of sports now and it isnt fucked up. Nothing you can do but hope you are on the right side of it. Its part of the game now if thats truly what happened

If you think it's fixed, why would you continue to wager on it?

There is a reason they save the timeouts til the end of the game.....so they can re-write the script.  There is no purity in professional sports...money corrupts all.  I advise all to read Tim Donaghy's book...although he is far from a credible source he can't be wrong about everything, and he is right about the culture of favoritism the officials share for stars in the league.  Thats why when its all said and done you will see the Lakers and Heat in the Finals so the ratings will go threw the roof and David Stern can buy his 5th mansion.

Thats why when its all said and done you will see the Lakers and Heat in the Finals so the ratings will go threw the roof and David Stern can buy his 5th mansion.

i agree 100% all gambling is you have to be on the right side....there are bad beats obviously and I have been on both sides of them but last night was absolutely ridiculous....the game was over and the sole reason they called a timeout with 1 second left was to cover the 2.5 pt spread....there is absolutely no other logical reason....they were not practicing a play because the bulls didnt even guard anyone....when i saw what happened i almost couldnt believe it but when that timeout was called i knew something fucked up was coming. It is over and there will always be bad beats.....We can just put this to rest and end with a big fuck you to Denver.

by the way did anyone see Carmelo Anythony's face when Carl wanted the timeout.....Carmello kind of threw his hands up and was like are u kidding me coach what r u doing.

Well said....and yes I seen Melo...I stated that in another thread...Melo wanted no part of that last play...he doesn't want to make business people(who had bets on the game) around Chicago mad at him since he plans on playing there next year

Good point.  I know Afflalo made the layup, but who was it that passed the ball in?  I missed that.

It works both ways fellas, we win just as many with NBA end of game antics, they are rich millionaire kids, they get bored, you know full well in the back of their mind they know the line and hey it is an easy two points to pad stats.  It does smell bad, I swear it all depends on what the script says.  Rarely do they TRY to score a meaningless layup in this spot.  You even see the team that is behind dribble out the clock.  My head will explode.

Deng once he missed the first one, should have missed the 2nd one, unless the Nuggets were gonna grab it and shoot a 80 footer with 1 second to play.....

It was Billups....does Billups normally throw the ball in?  I certainly wouldn't think so.  Wouldn't he be a guy that would shoot a 3 and try to draw a foul?  But no, that ain't what the coach wanted.  Hmmmmmmmmmm...

I suppose you can also factor in that nobody wants a 3-pt miss on their %; Billups wants an extra assist in his stats; and Afflalo wants 2 more points.  I still think it was with the spread in mind, but even if not, it was classless to pad stats that way.
