ORLANDO MAGIC - 6.5 (-115) - - -Orlando is struggling. Primarily due to the fact that that 2 best players have absolutely stunk in this 3 game skid. Vince Carter is playing the worst basketball of his career. I really think it is because of Stan Van Gundy. Van Gundy is a no nonsense coach, I believe he is openly criticizing Vince which is a mistake. Stan has to realize Carter is a sensitive little box and does note fare well to constructive criticism. What I know from watching Vince everyday in his glory years is that Carter is an incredible talent. When Vince wants to, he can make the game look easier for him then any other player in the league. I think Stan will slowly learn how to motivate. At this time I think Carter has all the motivation he needs to have a huge game against Washington. He has gone 7 of 37 from the field in this 3 game slide and that is embarrassing. He knows it, the team knows it and I see VC stepping up finally. Superman honestly looks like he forgot how to be a dominant big man. Since when does a C have 9 turnovers in the game? Dwight will come out focused tonight and rob the Washington front court of its dignity. I wish changing shots was a stat because tonight I see Dwight changing 10+ shots around the paint and really being aggressive to ensure victory. I don't read too much into this losing streak. Orlando is one of two teams in the NBA in the top 10 in offensive and defensive efficiency. They are for real, they just need to have the same intensity going into each game as they did last year. Hedo isn't the difference, its arrogance and confidence that is the difference. This 3 game losing streak will be humbling and I see a new Orlando team that puts it out there on the floor and stops talking and complaining. Despite that road game in Indy, Orlando has owned against below average teams on the road going 9-2 ATS against mediocre below .400 home teams. Washington is slowly turning into more of a joke then the 3 win Nets. The Wizards organization will now be fining Arenas's teammates for their reaction in the pre-game in Philly. I think that is a bit ridiculous as this whole situation is. Now talk about the Wiz dropping Arenas and the 80 mil left on his contract. Man o man, David Stern ruins the lives of black men more then the KKK. This is all ridiculously stupid in my opinion, and that is all it is...MY opinion. I really don't think the Wiz will come out and match the intensity of Orlando tonight. Magic will be a desperate ball club and will work for this win, while the Wiz will get popped...no pun intended. 9.5 UNITS JASON "WHITE CHOCOLATE" WILLIAMS - - - LOS ANGELES LAKERS - 3.0 (-101) - - -Don't care that the public is all over this one. This one has Lakehsow written all over it. Understandably a lot if individuals believe in Portland. Especially their ability to beat the Lakers in the Rose Garden. What most people need to realize is this will be a very different matchup. In the Blazers 4 straight wins at home vs the Lakers, Bynum and Odom have never both played in any of those games. I really believe that those two players will be the key to the Lakers win and cover tonight. First off Bynum who is relishing the fact he is the # one option in the low post will take on the ageless wonder Juwan Howard. I really think Bynum owns the oldy tonight. Juwan has held his own against many centers this season however Bynum who is way younger, much stronger, taller and wider will dominate him. Lamar Odom is my x-factor tonight. Many think Aldridge has the advantage but it is quite opposite. First off Odom can easily take Lamarcus off the dribble, Odom has a mid range shot which can guide Aldridge away from the basket. Most importantly Lamar Odom has as much rebounding ability if not more then Aldridge. Tonight Lamar will be the real Big L. Lakers and your boy Mak thought Artest was brought in to stop guys like Lebron. After seeing LJ own him in LA it was obivous that was not going to work. However the addition of Ron Ron will help them a lot vs B Roy. Kobe and Artest will absolutely lock down Roy and Webster tonight. D Fish seems to be loosing his ability to guard those fast young point guards, but tonight he will face an older wiser Andre Miller and Fisher will be fine. I am not worried about no Gasol here. Mbenga is a decent serviceable backup center and will provide solid defensive minutes tonight. Farmer and Brown will do well off the bench and the Lakers will end that slide in Oregon tonight.

NEW JERSEY NETS + 11.0 (-110) - - -Yea
I know I know. Not the Nets Mak not the Nets. Many have lost complete
and utter confidence in this team. Even when healthy this Dog doesn't
seem to bark at all. But I am the dog whisperer, I don't give up on
talented dogs. And despite only having 3 wins and being the laughing
stock of the NBA they have some mad talent on this roster and I cannot
ignore that. Hornets have been playing very well, but they are not the
same team that contested for top-tier status in the West the last 2
years. This is a different team and in my opinion they do not deserve
to be 11 point favorites to any team in the NBA. Hornets cannot cover
a double digit spread I am sure of it. Matchup wise I actually love
the Nets against the Hornets. You see the Hornets are the type of team
to alter their level of intensity during a game depending on the team
they play. Sad but true. They won't come into this game with the
mentality "we must not loose to the Nets" like most teams. They will
come into tonight thinking "no problem we got this." I do not think it
will be that easy. Devin will matchup well with CP3. Courtney Lee is
stronger, taller and faster then Devin Brown and will own that
matchup. How the hell is Peja supposed to hold CDR? CDR can take him
off the dribble with one leg. No chance. Yi Jianlian is in my opinion
the most promising player on the Nets. He is unlike many in the NBA
and is very versatile. He can guard D West and may frustrate him
tonight. Brook Lopez is bigger and better them Mecca period. Slight
advantage to the Orleans bench but if Jarvis Hayes can be a serviceable
player off the bench tonight it should even out. I think the Nets keep
it close and contest tonight.

BOL mak! With you on Orlando. One thing that worries me though is that the Lakers have not won in Portland since '05. With the public huge on the Lakers, don't you think this is a huge trap game for them?
Looking forward for your insight!

Good luck Mak. That missed ally oop cost me 1k last year.
LOL Doc, that was a rough one. It is one I will always remember, it was a perfectly excecuted play, he had enough space off his hands, he just choked while up in the air. Sad it cost you 1k bro, that was a dagger. Good luck with your plays and as always thanks for the post.

If the Magic need some motivation or to refocus...How's about putting a hard nosed get the job done BEAST in Brandon Bass in at the 4 every once n a while.
I think Haywood playing is a key. He is alot more defensivley equipped than FABRICIO (I refuse to call another grown man Fabricio). I can easily see Nick Young and Deshawn handling your newly re-motivated VC and covering an ugly game in the phone booth. I think I'd wait to see if Brendon playing before I made a play.
You're giving me a little more confidence to take the Lakers even tho it contradicts my earlier play of Juwan Howard for League MVP at 27 to 1.

Sorry about that, mak. I read your writeup but I was talking about the mental factor where teams are just a tad off when losing to a certain team over and over again. Thanks for your reply though and BOL as always!

I agree 1000% in terms of Brandon Bass. He is an absolute stud and hardy ever gets any playing time. It's because Van Gundy likes Ryan Anderson as a 4 man option more. I really think they need to trade Gortat or Bass because they deserve way more playing time and this rotation does not have any space for them.
As for Juwan Howard seriously bro? MVP bro? Come on. I have been surprised by him as well but I don't think this 37 year old will be able to contend for MVP status bro. Good luck with that best but I would rather have 270 to 1 then 27 to 1.

Honestly I do not think the Lakers are the type of team to be mentally unfocused or submissive to a team because that team has had success over them. Trends always end. Rosters are way different right now for both teams. Additions and subtractions...its a whole different ball game tonight and I think Lakers prevail. Good luck buddy.

You have a good point... I was thinking on laying some on the Blazers but now I'm not really sure. The Lakers have just been hot and cold these past few weeks and I can't get a good read on them, blowing out Dallas by 30 then losing to the Clips!

Ha are you pulling a Canada_Chris and double reverse joking my Juwan Joke ? I would'nt play him at 2 million to 1. In all honesty I wouldn't play ANYONE for MVP after I got robbed outta 4 grand 2 years ago in a travesty MVP Crowning... Chris Paul put up numbers unseen in the League for a decade plus...and they hand it to Kobe.
I'm also curious to see how the gaurds match up ... How successfull Jameer is with Earl's lil ass pestering him up and down the court. Part of the reason I think this game could get ugly especially if Deshawns minutes go up with Gil out. I'm going to Peep the first half them make a small to medium 2nd half read on that game. GL tho

Wow, if I was a black man I would be really pissed at that ignorant ridiculous comment. If you took a cheap shot at my race like that I would eradicate you verbally....on second thought I wouldn't. Why bother with such uneducated ignorance. I do apologize to you, it seems I offended you and your brothers at the KKK with that joke. My sincere apologies to your clan Cletus. 11000 + posts and an avatar like that combined with your racism officially makes you the biggest douche bag I have ever come across in my years here at covers, and I have seen a lot of em. Congratulations.

I'll take the Sixers +8 games the rest of the seasons vrs the Raps Give me +140
Everyone knows the Raps are Mak's team. I am such a Raps person. Example...San An vs Toronto a few days ago, went to the game, excellent seats. Mak's drunkan ass rooting and cheering for Toronto while loosing 7 bills.
As for your prop I am not sure I understand completely. You are saying Philly stays within 8 games of Toronto? If that is the case I wouldn't take the bet against you. I agree that Philly stays in the east playoff picture and within 8-11 games of Toronto.
Good luck with your plays.
