Kobe Doesn't think he's better than Jordan.... How can any of you?

Once and for all let's end this and I know some will say it's old but I'm sure his feelings remain the same and will never change especially after the game 7 performance he had

MJ considered the greatest athlete ever to walk this planet (Usain Bolt IMO is the best in the sense of the term) but still people argue Kobe is just as good or even better

To every Kobe fan I'll give you a lemon to suck on and maybe you'll just admit what your hero already has on numerous occasions

He's not as great as the greatest of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This isn't even a debate and all of you Kobe Kool-Aid drinkers are crazy

Nobody is saying Kobe isn't great but better than Michael Jordan the greatest player to lace up is a joke and nobody can really believe that if Kobe himself won't even dare try and say it

He watched just like many of us and knows what that man was like on the court as a competitor

Athletes from other sports are compared to Jordan (not Kobe).

But to put this in proper perspective and I have posted this many times throughout covers.

MJ was voted the top athlete of the past 100 years.......he was deemed greater than Babe Ruth...greater than Ali....Jesse Owens......everybody!!!

And while Kobe was voted athlete of the decade in the NBA....he was not even deemed to be the top athlete of this past decade....that honor went to (1) Tiger Woods (2) Roger Federer (3) Lance Armstrong (4) Michael Phelps and (5)  Tom Brady and/or Peyton Manning........no even in the top 6 otr 7 for top athlete of the decade.......................BUT   folks keep trying to say he is nipping on MJ's heels......who is deemed the top athlete of all time...not just NBA...but all sports!

But keeping this in the NBA

1.   MJ has 10 regular season scoring titles  (Kobe has 1)  MJ avg over 30 ppg in 8 seasons

2.   MJ has five regular season MVPs....(Kobe has 1)   they say MJ should have won more MVP awards --- they got tired & bored of giving him the award every year

3.   MJ led the league in steals 3 seasons and is regarded as the league's BEST perimiter defender of all time....and is 2nd all time in steals.

4.   MJ won a defensive player of the year award (Kobe has 0)....and MJ won it during an era when Rodman, Ewing, Mutombo, Robsinson and Olajuwon were playing.

5.   MJ has 6 NBA Finals MVP awards

6.   MJ is 6 NBA Finals Appearances and NBA Rings.  He never lost in a NBA Finals series.

7.   MJ has 2 Olympic Gold Medals

I can go on and on and on but will conclude with defenses were stronger in the 1980s and 1990s......they could HAND CHECK......that got rid of that rule, and now folks and teams go to the free throw line if someone "touches them" hence the touch foul!     When MJ played the Pistons had something called the Jordan rules......"when he penetrates one player hits him low and another player hits him high ----- with the goal being put him on the ground!!!!!"   Kobe does not play with that kind of physical "D" on him....the closest we have seen is the Celtics and even they do not "touch him" or he goes to the free throw line ---- and look at how Kobe struggled against the C's.  The Knicks also played MJ very physically too.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion --- but when folks say Kobe is > MJ they are saying he is now the greatest athlete of all time........and that for me is hard to say and just is not logical when 5, 6 maybe 8 other athletes were deemed better than Kobe this past decade in other sports.........it just does not seem logical that the greatest athlete of the past 100 yrs has now been eclipsed by 10 guys.

Both offensive games are brilliant, but Jordan gets the nod as he was much more successful, and he shot at a higher %. I won't change my opinion on that unless Kobe can win a few more championships in a dominating, dramatic fashion like Jordan always did with his teams.

Defensive standards of today cannot be compared to the 80's and 90's where players could physically hold their opponents hip (known as hip-checking). This, along with tougher players of that era, made the game much more physical. My point is that Jordan even played in the tougher era.

I can't see anywhere where I can give Kobe Bryant the nod over Jordan. OK, maybe one thing: Kobe likes to dribble the ball and break his man down one-on-one. Jordan played within the system. I don't know if that is a good thing or bad thing though. But Kobes era is highlighted with more one on one basketball. The Iversons', Kobes', Marburys and others made it normal to break down a man and penetrate the lane. Kobe is exceptional at this. Beating a team with an extra pass was not seen as much. Jordan was not the ball hog Kobe was, and to a lesser extent, is (he has improved).

Leadership will always be defined by Jordan, that killer instinct which always transformed into winning.

Kobe is not the leader like Jordan, but he has a killer instinct. Unfortunately, I feel that he see's the offensive side of basketball as game within the game. His killer instinct only lies there, on offense in my opinion.

To compare the two is not even worth it. I don't understand these questions where people say Kobe is better; I can only assume they are too young, or too bitter (I heard Mark Jackson saying that Kobe was better once).

Imagine if Michael Jordan had Shaquille O' Neal in his prime like Kobe Bryant did.... Instead of Luc Longley, Bill Wennington, Will Purdue, Bill Cartwright, Cori Blount, Bison Dele etc etc.... Nothing wrong with those guys by the way, they are just not a true dominating center like Shaq.

Hip checks, physical play, more top 50 talent and teams that were made of men not boys who play 50%

The only advantage now is the league is much more athletic but that is going to happen due to time and better nutrition, training, etc.

As far as Kobe having to say he's not better than Jordan. Don't kid yourself Jordan was told he was the best. Kobe is smart and watched jordan play his whole career which made him know he's not better.

He's a great player but nobody is better than Jordan and I highly doubt anyone will ever be. Kobe will not be as good for many reasons but his attitude and lack of closing out in clutch moments is a major factor IMO
