Tonight we will witness what I mean by Garnett is really good but not great.
The hallmark of greatness is the ability to carry your team to a Championship--I believe Kobe will do this it year, yeah Kobe is great, but not Garnett he just really good.
We all have our opinions and lets keep voicing what we believe and then just agree to disagree if we have differences. What I can't respect is those that want to quarrel instead of offering a critical perspective. Just have fun and don't take it too seriously either. lol..

Jaded? I was disagreeing with the poster saying Garnett is a top 5 player.
Also, no way Brady is top 3 of all time. Manning, maybe, but not Brady. Brady will be by the time he retires, but not yet. Marino, Elway, Montana, Manning.
I dont know if brady will make it by the time he retires. Ever since he doesnt know what the other teams plays are anymore, he looks like a mere mortal at qb

Do you realize that Tom Brady's winning % as a starting QB is over 80%??? he's been in the league 8 years and half his career he's played in the superbowl...he's 3-1 in superbowls, set the single season NFL record this year in TD passes, led his team to an UNDEFEATED regular season, and has two super bowl MVP awards...like always, chase, if anyone or any team is from Boston you can find any reason to justify someone thats better....when any of the above QB's can come close to what he has already accomplished in 8 seasons, then i'll reconsider....I honestly consider Montana the greatest of all time and Brady right behind him....and i'm sure Brady will win at least one or two more superbowls before he's done....oh, and he also sleeps with Giselle every night so i'd say that should clintch it.
What are you talking about? I've said Boston is the second best team in the MLB, and I've said in the NFL forum over and over again that the Pats are BY FAR the best team in the NFL. I have absolutely nothing against Boston, and don't assume that just because I think the Celtics are MASSIVELY overrated. I've also said Brady is tied with Manning as the best QB currently in the league, and nobody is even close to those two. Both will end their careers as top 5 QB's of all time, and I wouldn't be surprised if both ended as number 1 and number 2 of all time. Brady COULD end his career as the best of all time, but he is not there yet. To say he is already there means that he could retire today and you could justify him as the best of all time...I don't think he's there yet. He only has one season of 30+ TD passes if I remember correctly. By the end of his career he will arguably be the best of all time, all I was saying is he isn't there yet.
Also, this thread was about Garnett (a Boston player) and I called him a top 5 player...but yeah I clearly hate everything Boston..

garnett would be an even bigger star if he wasnt stuck in Minny for so long. to say he isnt a great player is crazy. he is in the upper echelon, and im sure current and formers pros would agree he is top notch.

In my mind there is a hugh difference b/w being really good and being "great", w/ Garnett's time horizon he must show the world he is that "great" player--and to do this he must get his team to AND win the Championship. Do I believe that he can do this? Yah he can but he must be hungry, aggressive, and most importantly take control of the game at times when it is at that critical juncture.
Garnett as a person = great but he must now prove his basketball greatness. Maybe it will happen this year b/c the time is NOW for him to do so.

Duncan is great for the reason you gave above...Maybe as a fan I expect more from Garnett that he has not given yet and that's why I posted this thread. I really would like to see him come out and dominate game 4 tomorrow but for some reason my instincts are telling me that its not going to happen..

Game 1 against the Cavs..2 point game with about 30 seconds left and they gave the ball to who? Kevin Garnett, who dominated his man inside and got the layup and the win for his team. The Cavs would have won the series if not for him taking over at the end of game 1...so actually yes, they will give it to KG in the last minute to win the game.

He needs players around him to be any good at all. Sam Cassel and Latrell come to Minny and all of a sudden their good. KG is on his own and they dont make the playoffs. No1 is arguing that KG is a good player, he is obviously very good, but he is not very great. He is not that diffrence maker. Your Marino analogy is wrong (IMO) because Marino was great but he had a bad team around him. A bunch of those teams were garbage, he was on his own. If KG went out for the whole year, I think the Celtics would have made the playoffs and they would have been a 2 or 3 seed. People dont realize the coming out of Davis and how big thats been, all the role players they signed, House, Posey, thats whats made a huge diffrence for this team

Everyone is expecting a L.A vs. Boston, but who the heck cares...in the end it means crap. Last year, after Detroit went up 2-0 against Cleveland, everyone was expecting a Detroit vs Spurs match up. That didn't happen as Cleveland did the unexpected and won 4 straight.
