If Denver would finish better in the regular season, they would not have to keep facing elite teams in the first round.
That is hypothetical at best, I'm not even going to get into it.
Are you saying when he had Carmelo Anthony and many other good players that they did well just to get in the playoffs as a lower seeded team?
When Melo was on the team, just look at how stacked the West was with the Spurs and Lakers very much in their prime. The West overall was incredibly strong, Phoenix with Nash and Co., Hou with T-Mac and Yao, Dal with Dirk and the Jasons, etc.
Speaking of that soft ass Melo, look how easily the Knicks got bounced from the first round and that is with a better supporting cast than what he had in Denver.

And for you Karl apologists, what excuse do you have for his Nuggets teams losing 4-1 in the first round in 2004 to Minnesota and 4-1 in the first round in 2006 to the Clippers?
This should be good.

George Karl is just like Marty Schottenheimer. He consistently gets his teams in the playoffs, but shits the bed once he gets there because he gets immensely overcoached time and time again.

So as a GM or an owner of the Nuggets, at what point what you become dissatisfied with the job that Karl is doing? Obviously, consistently exiting in the first round does not seem to concern most people here in this thread.
And I do give Karl a pass for losing to the Jazz a couple of years ago. He was going through Hell with his cancer treatment, so he deserves a pass for that series that Dantley helped coach.

Carmelo had a very good supporting cast in Denver when they suckered the Pistons with the Billups-Iverson trade. But he wore out his welcome, and even I quickly knew the Knicks were foolish for signing him.

What a stupid ass post. First off, I'm not a hardcore basketball fan or Denver fan, but from the post, I can tell you a few things off the top of my head why he shouldn't be fired.
1. Denver is not a high market basketball thing such as NY, LA, Miami, Etc. Which also mean they don't attract high profiled players. 2. I rather have a coach that takes me to 8 consecutive playoffs, than have a coach that doesn't take me to any. How many coach can you name that took their team to 8 consecutive playoffs? Not many I would think. 3. He have been up and down fighting cancer as well as fighting the drama and roster of losing Melo in an 8 players trade (# might be off). 4. Every year is a winning seasons. Enough said.

At some point you have to make a change if you can't get out of the first round. The winning seasons are great but after awhile something has to change. Coach, players, G.M

So you are very happy that his teams consistently make it to the playoffs, but shit the bed as usual in the first round. Talk about low expectations.
This obviously proves that he can get his teams to the playoffs, but Karl has no clue what to do once he gets there.

Finally, someone with a brain agrees with me and realizes that consistent MEDIOCRITY is unacceptable.
And Denver was VERY talented when they had Melo, Nene, Billups, Kenyon Martin, just to name a few.

So what. Since 1997, Cleveland, Orlando, New Jersey, Indiana, Utah, and Detroit made it all the way to the FINALS, and they are NOT big markets. So you have provided another POOR argument in defending awful post-season play by the Nuggets.

Denver doesn't have a Lebron or a Wade or a Bosch like Miami does
Denver doesn't have a Durant like OKC does
Denver doesn't have a Duncan like San Antonio does
What Denver has had is an open door of players coming and going with no real continuation from year to year...the fact that Karl has taken the pieces he's been given each time and taken them to the playoffs every year is a remarkable feat in itself...the real person to blame would be whoever keeps making these deals, where their team ends up having to reidentify itself every year and a lot of the time more than once in the same year...they are small market but they need to get a core and keep it not keep changing it, if they did this then you would see the genius in Karl as a coach...
and yes that you actually need someone to explain this to you...you are definitely a moron in basketball knowledge!
