Fisher can knock down open jumpers and is a solid veteran role player  hes nothing special,

i know that because hes on the lakers that he will never have great numbers ive already said that in my previous posts but im saying if he was drafted by a different team and was their number one guy i think he could have handled the load to put up some great numbers he could have been a much stronger brandon jennings type of guy that just takes a lot jumpers.

I dont think you understand that he is not the type of player that can get his own shot.  He doesnt have the explosion or speed to get into the lane at will.  His jumper when contested is not that accurate (career 40 percent shooter). He is not a great playmaker, he can run an offense but when it comes right down to it he cant beat his man consistently and kick to open shooters or drop the ball off to his bigs. Hes not a great pick and roll pg hes just avg.  He doesnt have the physical tools to be anything more than a role player no matter what team he plays on.

well look at allen iverson, his fg % was 42 so 2% points is not that significant. but i think youre wrong, i think that he could be explosive if he was asked to do so on a different team with average players and no stars. This guy is incredibly strong. are you kidding me, he may not be very fast anymore but hes certainly one of the strongest point guards in the nba. youre underrating him too much because of his role in Los Angeles. Im saying that if he was on a different team he would have much better numbers.

Well he had his chance to "step" up when kobe bryant was heaving up a million shots a game 3 or 4 years ago when there was no shaq or gasol for a couple of years and he couldnt muster more than 10ppg because HES NOT EXPLOSIVE AND CANNOT GET HIS OWN SHOT.  He had his chance then but hes a role player on los angeles for a reason that reason being he is and was never good enough to be a star and anyone with any basketball knowledge on here will agree with me

    ok, i have to ask...

on what NBA team would Derek Fisher be the #1 option?  and how often do you see guys who are the best player on a terrible team going to the Hall of Fame?

what you are basically saying, is that Derek Fisher (a guy whose first claim to greatness is his ability to hit timely shots in playoff games)... would be a Hall of Famer if he were the #1 option on a team... a team that would have to be terrible, in order for him to be the #1 option, and would therefore never ever play a playoff game... let alone an important playoff game late in the playoffs...

If they had a role player hall of fame for guys who are lucky enough to be on great teams and make a few big plays, Fisher would be in there with Horry and any of the Bulls scrubs who would stand behind the 3 pt line and make the open jumper that Jordan would create for them.

Since they don't have a role player HOF, there goes any shot Fisher ever had.

Sean Elliott needs to be on that in that Hall of Fame, too... might as well toss Kenny Smith and Avery Johnson in there, too...

I will give Fisher one thing, when the Lakers really need a bucket this year, Fisher is taking many of those shots and hitting them. That said, Kobe is drawing the double and little Fish is           WIDE OPEN, but knocking them down.

Fisher needs the Kobe not the other way around and if you do not know that , you never played the game. Fisher cannot create his own shots especially now at 104 years of age. He needs a great one to make him good. Kobe needs nothing, period.

Honestly, Trufant you need to seen Rondo play the last two months.  The only thing helping your argument is his BRUISED hip.  When Doc Rivers allows him to push the ball up the court and create ....he is truly gifted.  Fisher / Rondo is the most important matchup in the series....every NBA expert ESPN, SI ...including some on Los Angeles have Rondo's total package as better...more assists, more rebounds, more steals, and he can get to the hoop much easier than Fisher.  Fisher is a better outside shooter...and FT shooter.....that is it.  Rondo is a better point guard PERIOD.

and a better mid range jump shooter. thats a big part of my argument as well.... FT, 3P, and Mid Range. Those are 3 huge parts of his game.  Thats not thats it man..... ALso i think that Fisher can get to the hoop just as easily as rondo can but thats not part of his repertoire

I have already stated hes a good rebounder and a very  good passer although he does make some bad decisions when he tries to get to fancy but overall his vision is impressive. However he does turn the ball over much more than fisher.

i no longer want to argue this point. if i could revise that first comment to begin the thread i would have left it out because that was not what this thread was about. Was it an overstatement? Of course. Do i regret saying it? No. Am I a bit biased? Yes!

My point is rondo is not as good as people make him out to be. He still has a lot of work to become a better basketball player.

I bet that if rondo was on a team that was not in the playoffs, he would not have that great of numbers. he plays with 3 potential hall of famers....

i believe that's probably all you had to ever say in response to people bashing you about the HOFer quote... people do tend to pounce on a single remark, but that was a remark that was hard to get past...

I am not sure why all these squares jumped on you about your Fisher comment. The comment was OFF the other way IMO.

Fisher IS a future Hall of Famer. Not sure what NBA these morons are watching.

He is about to be the STARTING PG on his FIFTH World Championship Team.

    FIVE

    Thats FIVE RINGS.

Maybe these clowns need to hop off Rondo's dick and do some real research and watch some real game film. Fish continues to make Big Shot after BIG SHOT as he JUST showed in the 4th Q of game 6 in PHO.

Id like someone to show me ONE player in NBA history who STARTED on 5 Championship teams and did NOT make the Hall of Fame. I'm not talking about 1st or even 2nd or 3rd Ballot but this guy will be in the Hall of Fame before he dies thats for DAM sure.

These fuckin idiots on this site are quick to overlook FIVE World Championships but dick ride Rondo who has had a hot month.

Just a bunch of Celtics backers REACHING for pre-series ammo.... They will be on here in a week crying about a call or two and why they lost their money... Or it will turn into a Kobe bashing forum.

FYI   I hate the Lakers but the C's backers thinking Rondo is going to dominate this series arent anywhere close to real NBA Sportsbettors. If this series goes 7 I will be shocked if it goes 6 I will be impressed by Bostons effort but honestly I think this could be over in 5.

Overall you bring up a good point Trufant24

thank you i appreciate your comments.

Im looking foward to this series and I also believe the lakers should win this series in 5 but most likely 6 games.

This clueless Boston fan....is quoting Magic Johnson and Bob Cousy...when discussing Rondo.  Magic called him the best overall point guard in the league. My Bob Cousy quotes are posted in another thread.  HOF ...past Rings....don't really care.

Only concerned about the next two weeks.  So you are saying Derek Fisher will out play Rondo in this Series.  I just want to zero in on all that matters.
