I didn't reveal the spread yet, because my book has the Celtics at +6 at the moment, and I have a feeling Miami could be bet up to as high as 7 by tip-off, so I'll hold off in the hopes of a better line. The Boston Celtics will relish the role of spoiler and play very physical to keep this game close throughout. When backing the Celtics, you always hope the elite Rajon Rondo shows up, and not the showboating/free-throw missing/turnover machine Rondo shows up...on opening night I'm banking on the former. The Celtics are rested and healthy, and have more weapons than when they harassed Miami into a game 7. Doc and his crew showed us last year they age like fine wine...let's just hope for their sake that the '12-'13 vintage doesn't drink like Tisdale.

This is more of an instinctive pick. There are two new-look offenses that will look to work on a lot of their half-court sets. Dirk is out for Dallas, and if Kobe plays for the Lakers, he won't be 100%. Mike Brown is a defensive-minded coach, and was likely salivating when the best defensive anchor in the league showed up to town. I see the Lakers in a 94-85 type of game.

I'm guessing the handicappers know there is no Wall and no Nene? So ask yourself why is it 6 without those two? I feel like I have read threads regarding "players being out" as the sole factor for making a play. It seems like 75 % of the time that play doesn't work out. Something stinks about this and I would just take the points.

I think your right on with the Boston pick, although Miami opened -8/-7 most places, bet down to -6.5/-6 now, not sure your going to get that better line at this point... there could be a big push throughout the day to get on the Heat, but I'm not hopeful, just locked in +6.5 Boston
