So I know the Cavs are a hard team to figure out but as the week leading up to this game unfolded and I heard the media talking about the Cavs, all we have heard about is how time off = rust. We saw it with the dubs against the Spurs and one would think we will see it here, right? I know practicing and game time competition are two different things but these Cavs players went the distance last year and lebron has been there. They probably feel a bit pissed that they are in Boston tonite as opposed to Cleveland. They will have their legs, they will have shot 1000s of jumper contested and uncontested in practices but rather than focus on the shots and the flow of the game, it comes down to execution, both off the ball and on defense. Everybody and the world, including the almighty media is thinking the Celtics start quick. It makes sense. I get it. Just saw a speech about it from Stevens....So with this, I think the better team, the more rested team comes out of the gate, first quarter and let's everyone know that they are ok and ready. I'm definitely going against the grain here probably more than I have in recent times but I can't get away from the instincts of taking the Cavs first quarter. Let's keep this "W" train a rolling in the right direction.

How do you disguise rusty jumpers? You drive to the hoop with the best player in the world. This first quarter was one of the best executed and thought out quarters of the playoffs. Pure genius whether it be Lue or Lebron calling this approach. Let's try and continue to keep the "W" train rocking and rollin in the right direction!

We made it through last nite with no basketball. Now, going forward we pretty much have a game on every nite.
With the game tonite, is this the one that brings the cavs back down to earth or do they keep blasting their competition? You can expect a more focused Boston team now knowing the buzz saw that awaits them in this series. Every possesion counts. As for the cavs, will they keep the same strategy on offense because in my eyes, it was one of the better ones I've seen all playoffs by any team or will they mix things up?
If Boston is to get rolling, crowder, smart and most importantly, their bigs will need to show up. If the cavs are going to be able to attack the glass early again, Boston will drown. If I'm Stevens, I'm keying in on boxing out and I'm focusing on controlling the tempo with the pick and roll. Boston has to make the cavs work on defense and I didn't see a lot of that in game 1. As great as Thomas has been, he will need to up his level of play. I'm talking 30 plus and I'm talking getting to the charity stripe. I know he is a fourth quarter assassin but he will need to set the tone immediately.

The difference with this cavs team that nobody thought was "fixable" is this defense that they are playing. If you watch them in the half court, they are playing the screens right, they are challenging the passing lanes and most importantly, you can just tell it's the MAIN point of emphasis in their approach. Celtics better figure it out quick.....because SO FAR, cavs look very good.
