Was don MCLean dissing Jagger, or Dylan

On his classic "American Pie" epic...I was sure it was Jagger, because of his "candlestick"  reference, sounded like a Jumping Jack Flash thing---but many have claimed it was Dylan, I guess it could be both...thoughts?
