There are several stories about the lyrics. One popular version was that you drop some acid at 6pm and your trip ends about ten and a half hours later. Either that is a very long trip or I was doing sh!tty acid back in the day.

Quite the showman jumping up on amps and flipping on his back.

Back in 1981 eight of us went to Boston to watch a Red Sox game. Yes, we took two cars. We got blitzed on the ride. Beers and good smoke. After we arrived ate some cheap blotter about two hours before game time.
We took our seats along the left field line. Dwight Evans torched a line drive home run into the left field screen (no seats at that time) over the green monster for a home run.
Everybody was standing up cheering. Except my friend Dave sitting next to me. I said, "Hey Dave, Dewey just hit a home run". Dave says, "Yeah, I know, I'm still watching it".
Happy Trails to you...
