EVERY HOF committee is a bunch of turds. The R&R HOF, the Pro Football HOF, Baseball, etc. The priviledged few that get to vote get this feeling of entitlement, and they make the story more about THEM... as if they are so holy and everybody should kneel and kiss the ring.
Of course I agree KISS should have been in there a long time ago... same goes for Rush, and countless others. I think it is a load of crap, and I have no plans to visit their "shrines"
I don't even like KISS. Some good songs for sure, but many many bad ones... does anybody remember when they tried to cater to the disco crowd? lol Questionable musicianship... But I do get it. They were pioneers in creating a show. Their very best song IMO was "Beth" which was so far from the rest of their music.

Obviously I am a KISS fan. I in fact participated in a KISS Army march on the Rock Hall of Fame in Cleveland in 2006 with about 300 other KISS freaks. Personally, I was hoping that KISS would give the Rock Hall a Sex Pistols response, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen.
AS for KISS going disco...I mean KISSco....all the big bands were doing that back then....Stones, Rod Stewart, etc. Plus, I Was Made For Lovin You is a good song. It's slick. Funny how you diss on them for doing disco, but your favorite song is Beth. I Was Made For Loving You was so far from the rest of their music too and it ended up becoming their biggest worldwide hit. So it must have caught some ears.

but yes you are right, The Rock HOF is a committee of turds with Jann Wenner and Dave Marsh being the biggest turds of them all. They HATE KISS, but could not ignore them this time when they received the most votes in the fan ballot. Beating Nirvana, a band who was influenced by KISS, by like 20,000 votes
it is about time! Should be an entertaining show.

doesn't bother me one bit that they are not playing. In fact I had hoped they would have given a Sex Pistols response. This is about as close as it gets. The rock hall is completely at fault here. Had they inducted them in 1999 or 2000, they would have got the original lineup like they want now. The rock hall wants to induct the original lineup ONLY. KISS doesn't agree. darn the hall

As for the disco thing... there is more than enough room for criticism. "other big bands did the same" come on really? Bad behavior does not make other bad behavior less bad. Many musicians did the same thing, and any honest one will tell you they regret it, and it was a mistake. So there IS room for criticism because other artists that were not so starved for attention or cash DID NOT. Maybe I missed the Van Halen or the AC/DC disco period??
I certainly did not "diss" Kiss... lol. I started out my post by saying it has been long overdue. I simply stated that I'm not a big fan... I don't think they made very much great music. In my opinion they are a good live act to go see if you want to see an entertaining show.
Opinions that might differ slightly than yours are appropriate, even if you don't think so.
